Bottom Line

With world-class service, elegant rooms with colonial decor and wonderful amenities, a top-notch spa, and an outdoor pool, the 224-room Park Hyatt Saigon is one of the top luxury hotels in Ho Chi Minh. Restaurants, while pricey, serve tasty Vietnamese and Italian cuisine, and the hotel’s two bars are popular among guests and non-guests alike. The InterContinental Asiana Hotel and the Reverie have more opulent rooms in a more contemporary style, but for a taste of old Saigon, the Park Hyatt is one of the best.

Scene

A luxury hotel popular among business travelers and well-heeled couples

Housed in a beautiful white colonial-style building on the corner of two busy streets in central Ho Chi Minh, the Park Hyatt is one of the best-known hotels in town. Despite its opulence, the property had seen a slight decline in popularity in the last few years due to the lack of large investments and the arrival of strong competitors to the neighborhood. However, after the extensive mid-2015 renovations, the property has claimed back its position among the top luxury properties in Ho Chi Minh.

The lobby is inviting and elegant, with tasteful colonial decor and an overall hushed vibe that makes the property feel more intimate than many other business hotels in town. Plantation shutters, polished wooden floors, Vietnamese antiques, and plush carpets make for classic, luxurious spaces. This stately feel extends to rooms, which feature similar colonial decor, high-end amenities, and beautiful bathrooms. The Park Hyatt brand is known for its world-class service, and many guests claim that this property is second to none in Ho Chi Minh in that respect.

Location

Across the street from the Opera House, and within walking distance of most major attractions

Park Hyatt Saigon is located in the heart of District 1, a central neighborhood home to most major attractions. There are several other luxury hotels within a couple blocks of the property, and Ho Chi Minh’s famous Opera House is right across the street from the hotel. There are dozens of restaurants, bars and shops in the immediate neighborhood, and most main sights in town can be reached on foot, including Ben Thanh Market, the Fine Arts Museum, Huynh Thuc Khang street market, Notre Dame Basilica, the War Remnants Museum, and the Reunification Palace. Xa Loi, the largest pagoda in HCM, is a 10-minute drive away, and the airport can be reached by car in 30 minutes in normal driving conditions.

Rooms

Stately rooms with colonial decor and high-end amenities

The hotel offers three main room types: Standard, Deluxe, and Suites. All units are classic and elegant, with beautiful colonial decor and great attention to detail. Large windows with plantation shutters, refined wooden furniture, and sepia photos take guests to a bygone era, while room amenities -- including LCD TVs, well-stocked minibars, and feather pillows and crisp white duvets -- are on par with those offered at other luxury properties with more modern styling overall. Spacious marble bathrooms are luxurious and appealing, with separate soaking tubs and walk-in rain showers, upscale Miller Harris toiletries, and wooden vanities with black countertops. Free Wi-Fi, king beds (or two twins), ceiling fans, electric kettles with free tea and coffee, air-conditioning, and morning papers are all standard amenities. Deluxe Rooms are slightly larger than standard units, and have floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto spacious terraces furnished with two loungers each. Suites have separate living areas, and a few have kitchenettes.

Features

A luxe spa, modern fitness center, two restaurants, two popular bars, and top-notch services

Xuan Spa, located on the third floor, is the hotel’s wellness center. It features three treatment rooms as well as salon services in an inviting space with lots of wood, ornate mirrors, ceiling and wall moldings, and a serene vibe. The adjacent fitness center is bright, spacious, and well-equipped with modern machines featuring individual flat-screen TVs. Personal trainers are available. The stylish, medium-sized pool is a relaxing spot for a morning swim or a quiet afternoon in the sun, and offers towel and bar service, as well as comfy padded loungers.

The Park Hyatt has two wonderful dining options, including an Italian eatery with outdoor space, and a sleek Vietnamese restaurant. The most popular features among non-guests here are the bars. The elegant Park Lounge offers afternoon tea, all-day snacks, and piano performances at night in a beautiful space, and 2 Lam Son Martini Bar is known for its celebrity patrons and sophisticated decor.

The hotel is popular among business travelers, and features an array of amenities catering to them, including seven meeting rooms complete with catering services, and a full business center with secretarial services. Freebies include self-parking (valet parking requires a fee), Wi-Fi, and bottled water. Top-notch services such as limousines, butlers, and concierges are all available.
