Angsana Lang Co

Located in the middle of nowhere in central Vietnam, this place -- along with its sister property Banyan Tree -- is a world unto itself. The traditional Vietnamese architecture is nestled in a a gorgeous, peaceful setting filled with trees, grassy lawns, flowers, and lagoons. Overall, it's a stunning setting that draws wows from guests as soon as they arrive. Guests can choose to relax amid the tranquil surroundings or take part in the numerous activities available on land and water. The meandering pool is a key feature of the landscape, and just beyond is the private beach. Pathways wind throughout the grounds for romantic wandering, though the beach is a fine alternative for that as well. In addition to the main pool, many guest rooms also have their own private pools, so this place is suitable both for couples looking for privacy, as well as families and groups who are drawn to the many activities.  

This hotel is situated on a long stretch of beach in central Vietnam, with the Truong Son mountains in the background. Guests can drive to Lang Co Beach in about 15 minutes. The hotel provides free daily shuttle service to the historic towns of Hoi An and Hue, which are both a little over an hour away. Hoi An offers a look at many historic pagodas and temples, as well as dozens of shops selling local items such as lanterns and wood carvings. Hue was the Vietnamese capital during the 19th century and is an important literary and cultural center. Expect a little over an hour to drive to Danang International Airport, and a little less than an hour to Hue Airport. 

The hotel offers luxurious lofts, rooms, and suites, all with a chic contemporary style using Vietnamese decorative items. Color palettes blend hues of white and gray with earthy colors and splashes of orange for a hip, sophisticated look. Plush rugs lie atop tile floors, and modern pendant lighting hangs from the ceiling. Even entry-level rooms are spacious, with plenty of room for moving about and lounging on large daybeds stacked with pillows. Amenities are plentiful and include flat-screen TVs, audio systems, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, minibars, tea/coffee makers, and safes. Turndown service is provided, and some rooms have butlers. Housekeeping can also be customized based on when it's convenient for guests. Bathrooms are beautiful, with above-counter sinks, trendy fixtures, deep soaking tubs, and walk-in showers. Colorful robes, slippers, and upmarket toiletries are provided. Suites add separate living, dining, and kitchen areas, with one or two bedrooms. Balconies and terraces are furnished, and many have their own private pools. Some of the views are stunning, overlooking the sea and lagoon with mountains as a backdrop. 

This resort is packed with features of all types. For dining, guests can choose from three restaurants and two bars, as well as from offerings at Banyan Tree, the sister resort. The Market Place serves local and international cuisine in a bright open space. A breakfast buffet with hot and cold items is also served there daily. Moomba serves Vietnamese cuisine and Southeast Asian seafood in a beautiful casual setting with indoor and outdoor seating. The dining room is surrounded by glass so views of the sea and lagoon are visible inside and out. The Rice Bowl focuses on rice dishes and sushi in a colorful space with large green lanterns hanging overhead. The equally colorful Rice Bar serves rice-based and other cocktails in a sophisticated setting. The rooftop Upper Deck offers gorgeous views of the East Sea along with cocktails and light fare. Guests also can dine on floating docks at Viet Long Restaurant, which offers fresh seafood kept in nets below the water. Romantic private dinners on the beach are a popular option for couples, and room service is also available.  

The list of activities at the resort is long. The 300-meter pool meanders throughout the property, surrounded by lovely trees, flowers, and shrubs. Cushioned lounge chairs and umbrellas are spread along the way on the stone deck. A bridge crosses from one side to the other, and guests can swim up to the bar for a drink. The wide, sandy beach is just beyond the pool and provides more lounge chairs and umbrellas for relaxing on the sand. Active guests can play beach volleyball or do water sports such as kayaking and Jet-Skiing. There also are two tennis courts and an 18-hole golf course designed by Sir Nick Faldo. The fitness center offers cardio and weight-training equipment in a light-filled space with floor-to-ceiling windows. A game room has a billiards table as well as a couple of computers that guests can use. The Angsana Spa provides the usual spa treatments as well as its signature hydro treatment, and there's a boat ride that tours through the canal. 

For the little ones, there's a kids' club offering arts and crafts, games, outdoor activities, swimming lessons, and pool games. The hotel's six events spaces include a grand ballroom that can accommodate up to 400 people for social or business gatherings. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
