This boutique branch of the Design Hotels chain doesn’t disappoint when it comes to pleasing aesthetics. Featuring contemporary local art and 67 element-inspired rooms inside an 18th-century Bauhaus building, the hotel tastefully reflects both Vienna’s roots and its cosmopolitan side. It’s a reasonably priced three-and-a-half pearl hotel for the area, with a central location within walking distance to the City Hall, MuseumsQuartier, and Hofburg Palace. While there’s no pool or business center on-site, many existing amenities go the extra mile, from the underfloor heating in the bathrooms and showers by the spa, to the free cocktail on arrival. For full-on luxury, the Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna is closer to the Danube and offers a Michelin-star restaurant and a pool, but at a higher price.
Scene
Sophisticated, contemporary aesthetics in an 18th-century Bauhaus building
Built in 1908 as a medical clinic, The Levante Parliament, a severe-looking cubic building, recalls the austere geometrics of 18th-century Bauhaus architecture. Inside, though, the swanky furnishings, bold colors, and light-filled spaces are a different world. The lobby’s many windows, cream tiling, and red accent cushions on sleek wood-framed sofas create a stylish and airy aesthetic. A supporter of local art, the hotel also features captivating black-and-white modern dance photography and vibrant glass work throughout its hallways and stairwells. The contemporary decor carries over into the leather seats and red glass firewall dividers in the on-site bar and restaurant and in the elegant garden lounge. With its historic exteriors and artistic interiors, the hotel is a big draw for couples and culture-minded travelers.
Location
At Vienna’s city center, walkable to Hofburg Palace and MuseumsQuartier
Like its name suggests, The Levante Parliament sits on a large main road behind the Parliament and City Hall buildings in the center of Vienna, making it a favorite choice for tourists who want sightseeing spots within walking distance. Rathausplatz Square is a seven-minute walk away. Hofburg Palace is 14 minutes away on foot. The Vienna State Opera House is an 18-minute walk away. The hotel is also a 10-minute walk from the museums and art installations at the MuseumsQuartier. There's a tram stop a two-minute walk away and a U-Bahn railway stop is a four-minute walk away. Public transport to further attractions like Schonbrunn or Belvedere Palace takes about an hour. Vienna International Airport is 25 minutes away by car.
Rooms
Nature-inspired design with modern amenities like minibars and rainfall showerheads
Designed to reflect the four elements, the hotel’s non-smoking rooms use dark wood, warm lighting, natural orange and tan tones, and high ceilings to evoke properties of fire, earth, and air. Frosted glass doors and rainfall showerheads in the bathrooms represent water. Black-and-white prints and glass vases echo the common areas’ decor. Double glazed windows keep out noise, though most rooms don’t provide much of a view. Superior Single Rooms have single beds. Larger Superior Double Rooms come with one queen or two twin beds. Studio-like Junior Suites feature king beds and sofas. Connected rooms are available, but there are no accessible rooms for guests with mobility issues. All rooms have work desks, laptop-compatible safes, flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Mini-fridges are stocked with basics, but the lack of coffee-and-tea-making facilities is disappointing. Spacious bathrooms are complete with walk-in showers, handheld showerheads, and underfloor heating. Hairdryers and Bogner brand luxury toiletries are provided.
Features
Lovely Garden Lounge, infrared sauna, and breakfast spread
The hotel’s Nemtoi restaurant and bar is accessorized with modern tan and red furnishings, plus lots of glass windows to create an open-looking dining area. It offers classic Austrian dishes for lunch and dinner, and a vast breakfast spread of cold and hot, made-to-order items. However, breakfast is pricey if it's not booked with room rates. Room service is available 24 hours. The bar serves a wide range of cocktails and a nice snack menu, plus a free drink on arrival. Food and drinks are also served in the inner Garden Lounge, where modern seating and a water pool create a stylish but laid-back ambience. The Garden Lounge accommodates business events, weddings, and parties, and there are two more formal meeting rooms inside the hotel. The event rooms are well-appointed with projectors, air-conditioning, and Wi-Fi. The coffee machines and mini-fridges stocked with beverages are thoughtful touches. There is no business center, but photocopying, scanning, and faxing can be done at the front desk. Property-wide Wi-Fi is free. There’s no pool on-site, and while the gym is clean with modern Technogym equipment, it is small, and doesn’t include free weights. However, the fitness area comes with showers, lockers, and a changing area. The infrared sauna is a standout feature, and guests can book massages for extra fees in a quiet room stocked with water and fruit.Other amenities come with fees, including parking with the 24-hour valet, laundry service, and an airport limousine service.
