As airport hotels go, the NH Vienna Airport is a cut above the rest, with a full spa, modern meeting facilities, and a touch of style that's uncommon so close to the runway. Two large restaurants, including one with an American-style breakfast buffet, make for hassle-free dining on the way to catch a flight or a meeting. Some of the rooms at this upscale hotel have been renovated, but the older rooms, which the hotel calls "cozy and traditional," are quite dated and show excess wear. Beyond airline crews and tourists with missed flights or layovers, business travelers might find that the on-site business amenities, proximity to the A4 Autobahn, and a train that gets to the center of Vienna in 16 minutes, make this hotel a good spot for them too.
Scene
Upper-middle-range airport hotel with a touch of style
The rich, dark-wood entryway set in an all-glass facade adds a touch of elegance to this clean, business-friendly airport hotel. Inside, there's a bright seating area with large white couches along the floor-to-ceiling windows. The lobby opens further into a large space with a front desk big enough to rival those of the airlines next door. Stone-tiled floors, large pendant lamps, and more wood paneling warm up the interior, and dark-red sectional walls and matching couches add to an already inviting atmosphere. There's a restaurant that serves Viennese cuisine, and a bar that operates late into the night.
Location
Adjacent to the Vienna International Airport
NH Vienna Airport Hotel is located right at the Vienna International Airport, and just a few minutes from the A4 Autobahn, which provides a direct link to the city center. There are some attractions nearby, including the Central Cemetery and Neugebaude Castle, but the hotel is otherwise removed from most of Vienna's sights. Only the airport shops and restaurants are within walking distance, but there's a train that reaches the city center in 16 minutes.
Rooms
Contemporary decor with work desks
The hotel's 500 rooms have a contemporary decor of neutral colors and dark-wood furniture; some are punched up by red fabric accents. The furniture in some of the older rooms shows excessive wear, and the style is much more dated and quite plain. Bathrooms in the newer rooms have an overall more polished look, although they have the same shower/tub combos and lighted vanities as those in the older rooms. All windows are soundproofed, although ongoing construction pushes the limits in some rooms. Work desks with armchairs, minibars, mini-fridges and coffeemakers come standard, along with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs.
Features
Two restaurants, full spa, and flexible meeting rooms
The extensive breakfast buffet offers a large selection, but it's not included in room rate. The hotel also has an a la carte restaurant that serves traditional Viennese and international cuisine, with outdoor patio seating, and a lobby bar for killing time before catching a red-eye. The full-service spa has a sauna, steam room, and inviting relaxation rooms with heated lounge chairs. An adjacent fitness center is loaded with modern equipment, including treadmills, cardio bikes, and circuit machines. Business amenities include 21 event rooms that can accommodate up to 600 people, and a small 24-hour business center in the lobby. Free airport transportation is provided, and a taxi service operates at the hotel entrance.
