Hotel Pension Bosch is a budget property with 12 guest rooms and limited features, outside the city center but near a tram stop. Rooms are basic but pleasant enough, with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and either private or shared bathrooms. However, they lack coffee- and tea-making facilities and -- as is often the case with hotels in Vienna in this price range -- there’s no air-conditioning. Freebies include hotel-wide Wi-Fi as well as a breakfast buffet with a good variety of options. Those looking to be in the center of the sightseeing action could try Hotel Austria, though rooms here also lack AC and suffer from dated decor.
Scene
Homey hotel with a classic Viennese atmosphere and some antique decor
Hotel Pension Bosch is a quaint inn housed in a 19th-century structure built in the Art Nouveau style (or "Jugendstil" as the movement is known locally). There’s not much to the lobby beyond a small front desk and a large selection of brochures for travelers, and reception has limited hours. In the adjacent cozy breakfast room, parquet floors contrast nicely with the dark antique wooden hutches and tablecloth-covered tables with dark wooden chairs and red padding. Framed antique sketches and artwork grace the walls, while an Art Nouveau lamp with round circular globes hangs from the ceiling. While this hotel may have a traditional and somewhat dated feel, it’s relaxed and friendly, and well suited to budget travelers in search of a quintessentially traditional Viennese environment.
Location
Outside the city center, but near some attractions, shopping, and restaurants
Hotel Pension Bosch is outside the city center but well within walking distance of local attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. It’s a 15-minute walk to Belvedere Palace and 20 minutes to Wiener Konzerthaus on foot. The Galleria -- a mall with plenty of shops -- is a 16-minute walk from the property. Fit travelers can easily reach the city center in around half an hour on foot, but for those that need it, there’s a tram stop a four-minute walk away. It’s around a 17-minute drive to the Vienna International Airport.
Rooms
Classic rooms with flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges, some with shared bathroms
There are several different types of rooms offered at Hotel Pension Bosch, including Single and Double Rooms with shared bathrooms and Double Rooms with private bathrooms. All have a classic Viennese atmosphere with parquet floors, antique wooden furniture, traditional art pieces, and homey printed linens. Their old-fashioned look can either feel charming or dated, depending on perspective. Amenities include flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges, but there’s no air-conditioning or coffee- and tea-making facilities. Both shared and private bathrooms don’t offer a lot of space and include small walk-in showers and toiletries in wall dispensers. Hairdryers are provided in the rooms.
Features
Free Wi-Fi, free breakfast buffet, parking for a fee, and pets welcomed at no cost
Hotel Pension Bosch offers two solid features: free Wi-Fi and a free buffet breakfast. The breakfast includes pastries, cheeses, meats, cereals along with coffee and juice, and items can be prepared for those with special diets with prior notification. There’s also a public desktop in the lobby, and while it is an older version, it does the trick for those who need to jump online for a bit. Parking is available for a fee but needs to be reserved beforehand. Pets are welcome free of charge.
