There's also a lobby bar, and a breakfast buffet is included in the room rate. The hotel is conveniently located behind the Arena di Verona and Piazza Bra. Rooms, with wood floors, are stylish and elegant, and they come with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi; bathrooms include rainfall showers and chromotherapy lighting, but they can be small. Rates are competitive, but travelers might want to compare prices with the nearby Giulietta e Romeo Hotel.
Scene
Refined, contemporary upper-middle-range hotel with rooftop terrace
The Hotel Milano is housed in a four-story building with a pink facade and white window trim, accented by a vintage hotel sign in gold letters that hangs over the sidewalk. The hotel was renovated in 2010, and decor is contemporary and refined throughout. In the lobby, sleek dark floors pair with white walls and an illuminated marbled reception desk. Sitting areas are styled like living rooms, with brown chairs and couches, gray accent rugs, and large coffee tables. The small but well-stocked lobby bar features trendy leathery banquette seating and a black marble bar. The spa is modern, with bright accents and zen rock gardens, but the real standout is the rooftop terrace with a wood plank floor, modern molded chairs and tables, a hot tub, and views of the arena next door, which is so close that some guests find themselves listening to its concerts. With its convenient location, the hotel draws tourists, especially couples, given its small rooms.
Location
Located behind the Arena di Verona and Piazza Bra
Hotel Milano is situated on a narrow cobblestone street a few minutes' walk from the Piazza Bra and the Arena di Verona in one of the most beautiful areas of Verona. The hotel's street runs parallel to the high-end shopping street Via Giuseppe Mazzini, which is about a minute's walk away. Juliet’s balcony, also known as the Casa di Giulietta, is a five-minute walk away, while the medieval Castelvecchio Bridge and Castelvecchio Museum are about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is a 20-minute walk to the Porta Nuova train station. Verona Villafranca Airport is 30 minutes away via public transportation, or a 20- to 23-minute drive. On-site parking is available at the hotel for a fee. Bikes can be rented from the hotel.
Rooms
Refined, contemporary rooms with wood floors, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges
The 57 rooms at the Hotel Milano are stylish and sophisticated with a refined, contemporary decor. Smooth wood floors meet neutral walls while the beds rest against textured accent walls. Decor varies from room to room, but standard rooms tend to have white furniture and brown leatherette button-tufted benches at the foot of the beds. Upgraded rooms might have black furniture, four-poster beds, and velvety maroon button-tufted armchairs and sofas. Bathrooms are modern, with beige and white tiling, bidets, vessel sinks, and standing rainfall showers. Shower mood lighting in changing colors ("chromotherapy colored lighting") is somewhat incongruous with the more traditional decor, but can be fun. Hairdryers and toiletries are provided.
Rooms feature adjustable air-conditioning and heat, desks, safes, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and mini-fridges stocked with sodas and water. Wi-Fi is free, but there are no coffee- or tea-making facilities. Small Double Rooms are downright tiny, and many of the upgraded rooms are a tight squeeze, too. In addition to Double and Executive Rooms, the hotel also offers Triple Rooms and Suites with separate living areas, double showers and terraces. Some rooms overlook the Arena di Verona, but they're well-insulated against outside noise. Guests should note that apartment-style rooms are at a sister property (Aparthotel Verona House), which is about a 10-minute walk from Hotel Milano.
Features
Rooftop bar and terrace with great views and free breakfast
This small hotel's amenities focus on relaxation. The highlight is the beautiful rooftop terrace, which has great views of the Arena of Verona (guests can listen to the concerts from the hotel's rooftop terrace). The wooden terrace has modern molded chairs and tables, plus a small hot tub. The rooftop bar serves drinks and snacks. Quirky, modern spa facilities are also on the upper level and include a steam room, sauna, and chromotherapy showers, and white lounge beds sit on a purple floor near a zen-style rock garden. Use of the spa comes with a fee.
The hotel also has a small but chic and well-stocked lobby bar, and a breakfast room -- the free breakfast buffet includes hot and cold items, such as eggs, cereal, breads, and made-to-order coffee and espresso. Room service is available but limited to bar food, as the hotel doesn't have a full restaurant.
The front desk operates 24 hours, and the helpful staff will make recommendations and reservations, and arrange for laundry service, luggage storage, and bike rentals. On-site parking is available for a fee. A computer is available in the lobby for guests' use, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
