Pros
- Historic inn on a large property with mountain views
- Big, individually decorated rooms with deep soaking tubs
- Delicious, homemade free breakfast and free Wi-Fi
- All rooms have flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and welcome cookies
- Some rooms have fireplaces, private decks, and/or steam-sauna rooms
- Wine and beer service in the lobby or delivered to your room
- Personable service from hands-on innkeepers
Bottom Line
The Inn at Ormsby Hill is a quintessential historic B&B. Guests come to know the innkeepers -- who make a delicious free breakfast -- by name over the course of a peaceful stay. Each of the 10 rooms is individually decorated, but they all share a theme of classic New England decor with lots of patterns and warm colors. There are no extra amenities, like a fitness center or spa, that might be the norm at a larger hotel. Modern extras like flat-screen TVs and iPod docks keep the inn from feeling dated, and some rooms have lovely extras such as fireplaces, private decks, and steam-sauna rooms. Even though it is located on a relatively busy street, the property is large enough for short walks or watching the sunrise over the mountains.

On Main Street in Manchester, Vermont
A popular summer retreat for the wealthy since the 1800s, Manchester is a well-heeled city with a cozy New England vibe. The city is split into Manchester, or Manchester Village, in the south and Manchester Center (where the Inn is located) to the north. Manchester Village has classic New England feel, with street after street lined with beautiful historic homes that are private residences, inns, and antique shops.
Manchester Center has some quaint areas as well, but is the more retail-focused spot with lots of outlet stores. However, these outlet stores are not your run-of-the-mill spots but are home to high-end names and are housed in attractive Colonial-style buildings. The Inn at Ormsby Hill sits in a quaint area of Manchester Center along Main Street. It is just a short drive to a beautiful historic mansion (a must-see in Manchester) and about a 15-minute drive from Bromley's ski slopes.
- 46-minute drive to Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport

- 3-minute drive to Glen Eagles at Equinox golf course
- 6-minute drive to the Southern Vermont Art Center

Resorts and mega-hotels certainly have their perks, but few stays can feel as personal or as cozy as one at a quaint bed-and-breakfast.
