Metropole Hotel

This boutique hotel makes a charming impression right off the bat when guests are greeted via the private canal entrance after arriving via water taxi. The interiors are dark and packed with antique furniture, creating a true Old World Venetian atmosphere. The walls hold large antique oil paintings of Old World scenes brought to life with specialized lighting. The lobby area is full interesting decor, from a stack of old suitcases to Venetian statues. The hallways are home to an eclectic collection of antique fans, tapestries, and other artifacts. Throughout the hotel there's a specially created Metropole black pepper fragrance in the air. Overall, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming; attracting mostly leisure travelers. Metropole Hotel is particularly popular among couples. 

Metropole Hotel has central location in San Marco, overlooking the Venetian Lagoon. It’s within easy walking distance of restaurants, high-end shops (the Calle Larga XXII Marzo is a 10-minute walk from the hotel), and several tourist attractions. Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs are within a five-minute walk. It's about a 10-minute walk to San Marco Square, where Saint Mark's Basilica, Correr Civic Museum, and several restaurants and cafes are located. It's a two-minute walk to the San Zaccaria Vaporetto water boat stop. The Venezia Santa Lucia Railway Station is a half-hour via boat transfer. Marco Polo International Airport is a half-hour drive from the hotel, or about an hour away via public transportation.

The 67 guest rooms at Metropole Hotel are elegant and sophisticated with an upscale antique theme in the furniture and decor. While each of the rooms features an individual color scheme and design, they all encapsulate Old World Venetian charm with extravagant headboards, silk linens and curtains, chandeliers, and antique artwork on the walls. Some rooms even feature large Venetian-themed murals on the walls. Family Rooms are available for family-travelers, and include a double bed and up to two single beds. Amenities in all rooms include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, telephones, and free Wi-Fi. No in-room tea- and coffee-making facilities are available. Bathrooms include either walk-in showers or shower/tub combos with magnifying mirrors, hairdryers, and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries. Bathrobes and slippers are provided. A few of the rooms include a private furnished balcony. All rooms overlook either the lagoon, the garden, the Calle della Pieta, the Bacino San Marco, or the side canal.

Like most hotels in Venice, there aren't many features here. However, the available features are well-liked -- especially the Michelin star Met Restaurant. It serves a buffet breakfast (not included in all room rates) as well as a gourmet lunch and dinner menu. Room service is available. The Oriental Bar serves a variety of beverages, and hosts a Tea Ceremony in collaboration with the Dammann Freres (only available from October to March). The Citrus Garden is open during the summer months, providing an ideal spot to enjoy breakfast or a drink from the bar. A conference room for weddings and events is available, with capacity for up to 80 guests theater-style. The hotel also has a collection of antiques and curiosities dating back to the 1500s on display in the Gallery. Additional features include 24-hour concierge service,  laundry service, and pet-friendly features for small dogs. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
