The room decor is in a traditional Venetian style, with crystal chandeliers and luxurious curtains, but it's not overly stuffy. Amenities include flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, and beautifully updated bathrooms come complete with towel warmers. But the hotel has few features; there is a small bar and a Jacuzzi on the rooftop terrace, but no spa, gym, pool, or full restaurant. Nonetheless, Hotel Palazzo Stern is one of the most popular luxury hotels in Venice, even if its Dorsoduro location is a bit removed from the main tourist action around St. Mark's Square.

Overlooking the Grand Canal (with its own private dock), Hotel Palazzo Stern is located in Dorsoduro. Though largely a residential neighborhood (and the largest neighborhood in Venice), Dorsoduro is nonetheless a popular spot among tourists as it is home to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Gallerie dell'Accademia.A former artists' haven, Dorsoduro boasts beautiful historic churches, tasty restaurants, and some of the best art galleries in the city. It's a nice spot for a stroll, but during the summer its streets can be crowded, especially because a port in Dorsoduro is where most cruise ships dock.- 20-minute water taxi ride to the Venice Marco Polo Airport
