Ca’ Pagan

The Ca’ Pagan is geared toward travelers who want an intimate and romantic vacation at an affordable price in the heart of Venice. The owners, Mario and Marina, have restored some of the historic guest house’s original charm. A wooden arched doorway on a narrow Venice street leads into the small hotel lobby, which is loaded with antique Venetian furniture, artwork, and sculptures, and has exposed wooden beam ceilings and etched mirrors. A lovely marble stairwell with glass railings leads up to the rooms. Just around the corner from the reception desk is a charming, cozy breakfast room with chandeliers,  traditional white furniture, Murano glass fixtures, a wooden bar, and a flat-screen TV.

The Ca’ Pagan is situated near the Grand Canal and within walking distance of most of the island's major attractions. The hotel is surrounded by small streets lined with boutiques and restaurants, and the Grassi Palace and the San Samuele vaporetto (water bus) stop are a one-minute walk away. It’s a 10-minute stroll to Saint Mark’s Square and the Saint Mark’s Basilica. The Accademia Bridge is in seven minutes' walking distance. Doge's Palace is 15 minutes on foot and the Rialto Bridge takes about the same amount of time. The airport takes just over an hour to reach by vaporetto.

The hotel offers six rooms, each of which is individually styled with bright fabrics and decor that ranges from elegant to arguably loud. The Vienna Room is the most basic and has purple and gold patterned wallpaper. The Marco Polo Room offers Chinese furniture and silk linens, while the Doge’s Room has rich fabrics and gold furnishings. The Chippendale Room features Thomas Chippendale furniture. The Venetian Room has rich gold brocade textiles and Murano glass while the Casanova Room features romantic red velvet. All rooms feature minibars, safes, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and slippers, and windows look out over the courtyard. Bathrooms have lovely tile details, heated towel racks, bidets, and walk-in showers, and some have golden fixtures and bathtubs. There's also an apartment with a living room and kitchen, the Casa Pagan, that's run by the hotel but located in a nearby building.

The hotel offers a cozy courtyard accessible through the beautifully decorated breakfast room where a free continental breakfast is served daily. The courtyard features moss-covered walls, bursts of greenery and flowers, white iron patio furniture, and a decorative well in the center, but it's rustic look makes it look a bit rundown, though charming. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and there's an antique wooden desk in the breakfast room with a computer and a printer for guest use.
