Ca’ Angeli

Previously a stately residential apartment, this little gem is located right on the Grand Canal. Guests enter through wooden doors and check in at a little wooden desk in the lobby. The space is small, but elegant, with rich rugs atop tile floors, a crystal chandelier, antique Venetian-style furniture, and a large Venetian painting behind the front desk. A bench provides a place where guests can perch, but this isn't really a place to hang out. Golden angels sit atop moldings in the hallways, reflecting the hotel's name. The atmosphere here feels more like staying in someone's home, rather than a hotel. It's especially popular with couples, as there's a romance to it all, but some families, groups, and individuals stay here as well. 

Ca 'Angeli is situated on the Grand Canal close to Campo San Polo in the district of the same name. It is one of the liveliest areas of the city, and there are many bars, restaurants, and shops nearby. A water bus (vaporetto) stop is about a four-minute walk away. Guests can walk to the Rialto Bridge from the hotel in about eight minutes and to St. Mark's Square in about 15 minutes. The Guggenheim Collection will take about 15 minutes to reach by vaporetto, while the beaches on the Lido are about 40 minutes away by boat. Budget up to 40 minutes to reach Marco Polo International Airport by a combination of water taxi and cab. 

Rooms have an exuberantly classic look that features Venetian-style furniture. Expect to see headboards upholstered in damask fabric and more damask on the bedspreads and drapery, along with patterned carpets. Color schemes tend toward blue and gold, and artwork shows traditional Venetian scenes. Crystal chandeliers hang overhead. Amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi, and safes. Suites add sofa beds for additional sitting and sleeping space. Bathrooms are tiled and come with hairdryers, towel warmers, bidets, and toiletries. Some have just showers, others have shower/tub combos, and some have separate jetted tubs and showers. Some rooms have views of the Grand Canal, and one has a private terrace with exceptional views. 

As a tiny hotel, there's little on offer here to keep guests busy. A free breakfast buffet is served daily in a cozy breakfast room filled with elegant Venetian furniture and artwork, a bookcase stacked with books, and beautiful views of the Grand Canal. White tablecloths enhance the elegant atmosphere, and the continental spread gets positive reviews from previous guests and includes fresh-squeezed juices. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
