Scene

A modest but clean bed and breakfast

The Bed and Breakfast Venezia offers a local experience, and guests may feel almost as if they are staying in a Venetian home. Low-key and away from the crowds, this B&B is mostly unadorned but clean. A breakfast buffet is on offer each morning in what feels like an at-home kitchen. While not glamorous, this budget, family-run B&B lagoon views, understated charm, and good value.

Location

Away from the historic core in residential Santa Elena

The Bed and Breakfast Venezia is located in the residential neighborhood of Santa Elena, which is filled with many locals and few tourists. It's a 20-minute walk from San Marco, outside of the historic core and near a Vaporetto stop. It is a five-minute Vaporetto ride from the tourist center and one Vaporetto stop away from Lido, which offers a variety of restaurants and bars -- not to mention the only beach in Venice.

Rooms

Modest and traditional with modern bathrooms

The three rooms at Bed and Breakfast Venezia are functional and clean with wooden bureaus and headboards. They are painted a cheery color and have flat-screen TVs, lace curtains, and small but modern en-suite bathrooms. The room we viewed had traditional, homey decor details including an attractive hanging light fixture and an oriental rug. The garden room also includes a balcony.

Features

A rooftop patio with lagoon views

As one may expect from a traditional bed and breakfast, the Venezia has limited features. The rooftop patio with lagoon views is a great spot for watching the sunset over drinks. Guests also have access to a back garden and a kitchen where breakfast is served daily.
