Scene
Grand, opulent, Venetian house
Built in the 18th century, this stunning house has Gothic-style arched windows and decorative stonework. The hotel has been carefully renovated over the years, and the interior now houses a mix of ancient and modern art. The lobby area is bright and grand, with a marble tiled floor, pale green and white walls, an intricately painted ceiling, and a large chandelier made from local Murano glass. There’s an opulent feel throughout the hotel’s public areas, and the restaurant is no exception, with a formal black, gold, and green color scheme and large pieces of artwork on the walls. The hotel's bar is a trendy hotspot and has hosted many famous faces over the years.
Location
On the Grand Canal, a short walk to St. Mark’s Square
The hotel is located in the heart of Venice’s historic center, within a short walk of the top restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions, and right on the Grand Canal. It’s less than a five-minute walk to Correr Civic Museum, St. Mark's Square and the Basilica, Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs. The Rialto Bridge and the ancient Santa Maria Formosa Church are within a 10-minute walk. The San Marco Vallaresso ferry stop is just a few steps away from the hotel.
Rooms
Lavish and luxurious -- some modern, some traditional
Some of the guest rooms have been decorated in a modern style with light, neutral colors, while others are typically Venetian with deep colors and ornate furniture. They all look luxurious, though, with silk fabrics and Murano glass chandeliers. All rooms have walk-in closets, air-conditioning, safes, desks, minibars, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, free newspapers, Wi-Fi, and 24-hour room service. Deluxe Rooms have street or interior views, while higher-priced rooms offer canal views. The Italian marble bathrooms have high-end toiletries, and some have a separate baths and showers. Extra spacious suites are available, too, which offer panoramic views of the city, two bathrooms, and whirlpool baths.
Features
Rooftop terrace and use of an extensive spa
The rooftop terrace is the jewel in the hotel’s crown. Located on the seventh floor and named Settimo Cielo -- meaning "Seventh Heaven" -- it offers one of the best views in all of Venice. Reserved exclusively for the hotel’s guests, it is where the breakfast buffet is served and has a panoramic view of the whole city and the lagoon. Breakfast is included in the room rate and offers a good selection of fruit, cereals, cold meats, cheese, pastries, and some hot food. For lunch and dinner, the elaborately furnished fine-dining restaurant De Pisis serves Mediterranean food with an Asian twist. There’s also a cozy bar, which has live music each evening. The fitness center is a large and has a range of equipment. For spa treatments, guests can use the extensive facilities at the property’s sister hotel, Bauer Palladio, which has eight treatment rooms over two floors, and a spacious lounge with huge windows overlooking St Mark’s Square. Treatments include a range of massages and reflexology, and there’s also a Turkish bath and hot tub.
