Scene
A budget hotel with traditional decor, a small breakfast room, and lovely lagoon views
A Tribute To Music is a quaint and budget-friendly hotel with serene lagoon views and a convenient location. The five-story building -- located directly on the Bacino San Marco -- dates back to the 1800s. The exterior is classically Venetian, with green wooden shutters and iron balconies. Souvenir stands line the bottom floor of the building. The cobblestone promenade, Riva degli Schiavoni, borders the lagoon, and it's a popular spot for watching water taxis and gondolas pass by. Inside the hotel is a small reception area decorated with traditional Venetian decor, including an ornate wooden front desk, heavy gold draperies, and a comfy sofa. The hotel doesn’t have any common area space for guests, aside from a cozy breakfast room with red furniture.
Location
Situated on the Bacino San Marco in the district of Castello
A Tribute to Music is conveniently located directly on the Bacino San Marco in the Castello neighborhood. The Riva degli Schiavoni promenade runs right outside of the hotel and is lined with souvenir vendors. Numerous restaurants and bars dot the area. The Bridge of Sighs is an eight-minute walk away and Saint Mark's Square, with its Clock Tower and Basilica, take around 10 minutes to reach on foot. It takes just over 20 minutes on foot to reach the Saint Maria of Salute Basilica. The Arsenale vaporetto (water bus) stop is a two-minute walk away, and it's a 40-minute ride to the island of Murano. The airport takes an hour to reach by vaporetto.
Rooms
Traditional Venetian rooms with flat-screen TVs and gilt touches, some with lagoon-facing terraces
Baroque decor fills Standard and Superior Rooms at A Tribute To Music. Patterned wallpaper, rich draperies, antique-inspired Venetian furniture, and gilt touches make up the interior design scheme which can feel traditional to some, or a bit dated to others. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, writing desks, safes, air-conditioning, minibars, and kettles, and some have kitchenettes with two-burner stovetops and sinks. Rooms overlook the promenade and lagoon or the courtyard. Top-floor rooms have low-hanging, angled ceilings with skylights, canopy beds with exposed wooden beam ceilings, sofa beds, slippers, small sitting/dining areas and terraces with gorgeous lagoon views. Bathrooms are simple but clean, with heated towel racks, showers, bidets and walk-in showers or shower/tub combos, some of which are really just tubs with handheld showerheads. Some top-floor bathrooms have low ceilings over the tubs, a potential nuisance for taller guests.
Features
Free breakfast and Wi-Fi, an intimate courtyard, and concierge services
Facilities are limited at A Tribute to Music, although there is free Wi-Fi and luggage storage available. In the rear of the hotel is a shared courtyard -- with patio furniture -- that is accessible through a door in the reception area. There's also a free continental breakfast served buffet-style in the cozy breakfast room. The hotel also offers concierge services for guests, and the front desk can arrange museum visits, entertainment tickets, and restaurant reservations. Venice is a dog-friendly city and while pets are allowed, extra fees may apply.
