Hotel Bella Italia markets itself as a children's paradise, and it delivers. The three-and-a-half-pearl property has a big outdoor pool, waterslides, and access to the sprawling Camping Bella Italia campground, which has a water park and daily entertainment. There's less for adults though, with no spa and only a tiny bar attached to the buffet restaurant. Even the small heated indoor pool caters to children, featuring colorful play equipment. The 53 guest rooms are simple and bland, but they have large furnished balconies, and there are a few apartments with kitchenettes. Travelers without children should check out the more contemporary Hotel Dori, which also offers free breakfast.
Scene
Family-friendly hotel that's loaded with kid-focused facilities
The hotel is designed specifically for families making use of the larger Camping Bella Italia's facilities, but prefer a more conventional hotel experience. Glass doors with bright blue trim open into a lobby with yellow walls and dated tile floors, with potted plants and small white columns adding a bit of interest to otherwise surprisingly bland interiors. A curved sectional provides a place to sit near the reception desk, but in terms of common space, all the action at this hotel takes place outside. Amenities are geared toward children, so expect an energetic and noisy environment. The neighboring campgrounds are packed with mobile homes and bungalows, almost like a mini-town. It has the bustling atmosphere of a summer camp or theme park. The pool area is huge, bristling with kids splashing around colorful slides and sprinklers shaped like animals.
Location
Outside of town, neighboring a large lakeside campground
The hotel is located just outside Peschiera del Garda in a residential area, situated on a provincial road that runs along Lake Garda. It's adjacent to (and part of) the large Camping Bella Italia campground that stretches across a long section of the lake's southern end. It's a 15-minute walk into town, where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. From there, guests can catch a ferry that stops in town and travels around the lake. The Gardaland amusement park is a 10-minute drive. It's roughly 30 minutes by car or about 50 minutes by public transportation to reach Verona, and driving to Venice takes about 90 minutes.
Rooms
Casual rooms with large furnished balconies and apartments with kitchenettes
The hotel has 44 well-maintained guest rooms and nine one-bedroom apartments, though all are dated, done in light pastels and simple wood furniture. Standard Double Rooms are on the small side at 161 square feet, with twin or double beds and cramped seating areas with armchairs, but all rooms open to large furnished balconies or patios. They also have small desks and wardrobe closets. Larger Family Rooms range from 215 to 322 square feet and sleep three or four people, and they feature living areas that have sofa beds. Free Wi-Fi comes standard, along with older model flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and electric kettles. The one-bedroom apartments have more rustic decor, with wood-beamed ceilings and separate living rooms with sofa beds. They add kitchenettes with stovetops and microwaves, but they lack balconies. Tiled bathrooms have bidets, and either small walk-in showers or average shower/tub combos, plus hairdryers and bottled toiletries.
Features
Outdoor pool and kiddy pool, fitness center, plus buffet restaurant and free breakfast
The hotel's bevy of amenities designed to keep the kids occupied is its biggest draw. A narrow footbridge divides the adult pool and spacious kiddy pool, which has colorful slides and other play equipment. There's also a small, shallow heated indoor pool that's suitable for children, with more fun water features. Other kid-friendly amenities include a well-maintained kids' club with games, and regular activities. There's no spa, but there's a hot tub and a sauna, along with a fitness center that has modern cardio machines and weight training equipment. For dining, the casual buffet restaurant serves international cuisine and has a tiny bar with an espresso machine. Free breakfast with eggs and other hot items is included, and all-inclusive rates are available (but do not include drinks).
Guest are given full access to the off-site neighboring Camping Bella Italia campground, which is within walking distance. It has a huge pool complex with waterslides and other play facilities, an artificial beach, and many sun loungers. The campsite also has a market, restaurant, pizzeria, and bar with a terrace overlooking the lake. A mini club provides entertainment and activities for children, plus table tennis, as well as a soccer field and volleyball and basketball courts. Bike rental and laundry facilities are also available.
Children under seven stay free at Hotel Bella Italia, and older children get discounts (tiered by age). On-site parking and Wi-Fi throughout are free.
