Rosedale on Robson is a mid-range hotel with a prime location for sports fans -- it's just a five-minute walk to BC Place Stadium and the hotel offers packages for discounts on tickets. Rosie's Restaurant and Bar serves pub food and draft beer in front of flat-screen TVs. All of the rooms are suites with kitchenettes, though only some of them have been updated to include flat-screen TVs and Keurig coffeemakers. The small indoor pool with an adjacent whirlpool are nice perks, as is free Wi-Fi and a fitness center. Check rates at the neighboring Blue Horizon Hotel for contemporary rooms and a bigger swimming pool at around the same price.
Scene
Multistory glass facade
Rosedale on Robson has a slightly dated but well-maintained, mostly glass facade with green metal details. The lobby has high ceilings and an interesting silver metal detail on the ceiling, but otherwise looks generic with a a wooden reception desk, racks of brochures, and four gray armchairs clustered on a geometric-print rug. This hotel is popular with young families who tend to take over the small pool, and business travelers who like the location. The second floor outdoor terrace is a real highlight. It has patio furniture, pretty gardens, and great views of downtown Vancouver.
Location
Two blocks from BC Place Stadium
If you're in Vancouver for the BC Place Stadium, it doesn't get much more convenient than the Rosedale on Robson, which is just two blocks from the sports arena. Vancouver's historic and architecturally interesting library is just across the street from the hotel, surrounded by cute restaurants, theaters, and coffee shops. The neighborhood is hip and urban. Expect to pay for parking, a common practice in Vancouver.
Rooms
Suites with kitchenettes
All 217 rooms at Rosedale on Robson are suites with kitchenettes. Layout, bed type, and size vary but each is well-kept and clean. The decor is a little bland and could use a refresh. Think: white walls, dark industrial carpet, and generic wood furniture. Floor-to-ceiling windows and some balconies with harbor views add light and interest. Some of the suites have been updated to include flat-screen TVs and Keurig coffeemakers, but others have old appliances. Kitchenettes consist of electric burners, a microwave, and sink, plus a small refrigerator and dishes. Shower/tub combinations covered with a fabric curtain and single sinks make up the bathrooms. A hairdryer and toiletries are provided. Views of the city and harbor are best from the highest floors.
