Pros
- Lush, nicely landscaped courtyard offers peaceful retreat
- Rooms are quiet and have view of courtyard
- Hip Main St. area five minutes away by bus; downtown 15 minutes away
- Affordable and includes free parking, continental breakfast, Wi-Fi, and daily newspaper
- Easy to reach from YVR airport in 30 minutes
- Great burger joint and Chinese restaurant nearby
Cons
- Located in a boring neighborhood on a busy street
- No major attractions or shopping within easy walking distance
- Must take public transit or drive to reach downtown or city attractions
- No restaurant or bar on-site
Bottom Line
Though a standard budget hotel, this Days Inn is more attractive than many others in the city. There's a lush green courtyard, stone tile lobby, and spacious, clean if no-frills rooms, all with views of the courtyard. The downside is there’s nothing much of interest within walking distance. But for budget travelers who don’t mind a 15-minute bus ride downtown, the hotel is a quiet, clean, comfortable option -- and within 30 minutes of the airport.

Scene
Attractive lobby and lush courtyard
Situated in a two-story building, the stark white columns and flags give the exterior a bit of a Capital Hill appeal, and the meticulously manicured grounds are equally if not more inviting. Though small, the lobby is adorned with attractive, dark granite tile and a couple of leather chairs. The breakfast cafe is cute, in a fancy fast-food restaurant kind of way. A lovely, jungle-like courtyard serves as the hotel’s centerpiece.
Location
Outside of downtown in suburban sprawl
This Days Inn is located on the southeast side of Vancouver. The drive to Vancouver International Airport is around 30 minutes, or about 40 minutes by public transit (980 SkyTrain). The trendy Main St. area is a five-minute bus ride away, and downtown is about 20 minutes by car. There is fast-food right next door, tasty burgers at a restaurant across the street, and good Chinese food a couple of minutes down the block.
Rooms
Large and nice for a budget hotel, but bland
The guest rooms' most winning characteristic is their relative quiet; all face inward, with views of the green courtyard, and are free of street noise. No-frills rooms are decorated with interesting prints, but are otherwise relatively uniform, with maroon curtains, bed skirts, and linens; and thick, comfortable beds. There is free Wi-Fi in every room, and a large flat-screen TV. The suites have separate bedroom and large lounge areas, along with mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers. The green carpeting is the only design element that looks truly dated, although the small bathrooms could also use a renovation.
Features
Free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking
There are not many features, as this is a budget property, but the courtyard offers a very pleasant place to relax. Continental breakfast is basic – cereal, toast, yogurt, coffee, etc. -- and is served in the cozy breakfast cafe. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, as are daily newspapers. Parking is plentiful, and small pets are allowed for an extra fee.
