The 101-room Vincci Lys hotel is in a superb location, right in the heart of Valencia’s city center. The hotel is elegant, clean, and convenient, right next to the train station, and less than a 10-minute walk to the Valencia Cathedral and other old-town attractions. If guests are looking for charm, old-world Spanish character, or a peaceful hideaway, the Vincci Lys, set amid shops, bars, and cafes, is not the place, but for a home base in the center of the city, this is the spot.
Scene
Intimate, comfortable, in the center of the city hubbub
The Hotel Vincci Lys is perfect for tourists, but business travelers may find its limited public areas are not conducive to closing a deal over a meal or a drink (though the hotel does have conference rooms). The lobby is small and very busy, furnished with comfy clusters of upholstered sofas and armchairs, with striped Regency-style wallpaper. The Restaurante Almundi is classically decorated. The lobby bar is fine but neither private nor atmospheric. The area surrounding the hotel, however, is packed with dining and drinking alternatives. There are cool little touches scattered throughout the hotel, such as a pair of bronze antelope head sculptures on a console table, alongside tourist information. There is nothing to complain about at the Vincci Lys, but it is part of a chain, albeit a high-end one, and travelers who want a more individualized experience may want to go somewhere a little more quirky.
Location
Nestled in a pedestrian-only area in the center of town
The Hotel Vincci Lys is in a pedestrian-only area in the center of Valencia, surrounded by restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops. The Valencia train station is right next door, as is the town hall. A 10-minute walk takes visitors to any of the local sites and museums of the old town, such as the Valencia Cathedral. It's a five-minute walk to the Xativa Metro Station, which provides a direct connection to Valencia Airport. There is no better located hotel in Valencia, and the Vincci Lys is the only central hotel with on-site parking.
Rooms
Spacious and classic, with pretty, shabby-chic touches
Rooms at the Hotel Vincci Lys, which include doubles and suites, are spacious, with spotless hardwood floors, elegant decor in subtle shades of brown with expensive-looking green or red accents, shabby chic-style picture frames, lamps, chandeliers, and other touches. Some rooms have pretty terraces with tables and chairs for enjoying the view. The double bed is actually two singles pushed together. Wi-fi is free, but high speed costs extra. Bathrooms are marble. Some guests have complained about street noise; others advise against taking a room on the first floor over the restaurant, because of the noise from breakfast service. Rooms come with minibars, flat-screen TVs offering free satellite service in addition to premium channels, pillow menus, and safes.
Features
Breakfast buffet, lobby bar, meeting rooms
The Hotel Vincci Lys' Restaurante Almundi offers a full hot and cold breakfast buffet (for an additional charge), complete with buttery croissants, Spanish ham, cereals, eggs, and more. The lobby bar serves cocktails that can be enjoyed in the cushy sofas over conversation or a good book. Meeting rooms are plain but perfectly functional, and the excellent location adds to their appeal.
