Plaza Picasso is a mid-range, apartment-style hotel located in a residential neighborhood outside the city center. It's a 10-minute drive (30-minute walk) from attractions, but there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area, as well as two metro stations within walking distance. Its simple one- and two-bedroom apartments have living rooms with sofa beds, along with kitchenettes and dining areas. Like most hotels of this type, there are few other facilities, but this one has a breakfast room and a separate cafe with an outdoor terrace. Similar rates and a traditional hotel experience can be found at the NH Ciudad de Valencia, though it's no closer to central attractions.
Scene
Urban apartment hotel with a ground-floor cafe
Plaza Picasso is a mostly contemporary, 12-story building with a relaxed atmosphere on an urban residential street. It's set back a bit from the road, across a small brick plaza lined with palm trees. The lobby is decorated with modern art and there's a metal reception desk backed by a stage curtain. Two large blue couches are accompanied by a variety of wooden furnishings that have begun to show some wear. There's a staircase to the right, a bank of elevators around the corner, and a cafe down the hall. Like other apartment hotels, there are few other facilities apart from a breakfast room. It's geared toward tourist couples or family groups looking for the convenience of an apartment located in a quiet neighborhood, and who don't mind being removed the city center.
Location
Outside the city center, but close to shopping, restaurants, and public transportation
The hotel is in an urban residential neighborhood that’s about a 30-minute walk (10-minute drive) from the city center and most of Valencia’s popular tourist attractions. In the immediate area, there are plenty of green spaces, along with several restaurants, bars, and cafes. There are a large grocery store and a shopping mall within walking distance, and the Valencia Bioparc (a zoo) is a 12-minute walk away. The Torres de Quart, a pair of 15th-century towers and gate defending a section of the city's western wall, can be reached in 20 minutes on foot. It’s easy to maneuver around the city via the metro, and it's only a 10-minute walk to the Turia stop, or a 16-minute walk to the Nou d'Octubre stop. Expect a 15-minute drive to Valencia Airport.
Rooms
Large apartments with kitchenettes, dining tables, and sofa beds
The hotel has 60 simple one- and two-bedroom apartments with street or courtyard views. Layouts vary, but expect polished tan marble floors, neutral walls with the occasional colored accent wall, and some pieces of modern artwork. The furniture is mostly contemporary, with a mix of some slightly dated tables and chairs. One-bedroom units measure 592 square feet (55 square meters), and feature double beds and separate living rooms with sofa beds and dining tables. The kitchenettes have older-looking granite countertops, small refrigerators, microwaves, and electric stovetops, along with some dishes and cookware. Two-bedroom apartments come in at 700 square feet (65 square meters), and have rooms with double or twin beds, plus add extra chairs for the dining room tables. One of the two-bedroom apartments has a large outdoor terrace with a table and chairs, and the kitchen is upgraded with a full-size refrigerator and an oven. All apartments have free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. There's plenty of storage space in wardrobe closets and shelves. Straightforward bathrooms have showers or shower/tub combos, plus hairdryers and free toiletries. Housekeeping is every three days.
