Scene

Warm and inviting, with lovely picture windows

The Hotel Sorolla is warm and inviting, although it lacks public areas, except for the pretty breakfast room with picture windows facing the busy Valencia pedestrian streets. Outside the front door of the hotel, the Spanish street life passes by, day and night, and there are cafes nearby with outdoor seating for prime people watching. The Sorolla has great views of central Valencia from every window, and the rooms are comfortable and large enough that the lack of bar or lounge space isn't a deal breaker, especially with so many social options in the immediate area.

Location

Central to everything, between City Hall and the bull ring

The Hotel Sorolla Centro is located on a pedestrian-only mall, halfway between the Valencia town hall and the local bull ring. The hotel is right in the center of everything, as it is surrounded by shops, cafes, cinemas, restaurants, and outdoor plazas with seating. The area can get noisy and busy, and the street activity can be heard from rooms, especially in the evening. Those sensitive to noise would be wise to request a guest room on a higher floor. Most tourist attractions are within convenient walking distance.

Rooms

Nice furnished balconies, fresh flowers, and great bathtubs

Hotel Sorolla Centro rooms are simply, but warmly, decorated (picture contemporary wood furnishings, modern art on the walls, fresh flowers, and blue accents throughout). Many have balconies with lounge chairs, tables, and seats for enjoying the Mediterranean sun or the Valencian life on the busy streets below (ask for a higher floor to minimize street noise.) Rooms have a clean, open feel, with hardwood floors, large picture windows, cream-colored draperies, and crisp, white bed linens. Some bathrooms have windows to let in natural light and fresh air, and deep soaking tubs. Showers have excellent water pressure.

Features

Extensive buffet breakfast served in a lovely room

The Hotel Sorolla Centro serves an extensive buffet breakfast (which includes Spanish ham) in a large, clean room with floor-to-ceilings windows that face the street, so guests can watch Valencia begin the day right outside while eating their meal. There are fresh flowers and a selection of local guidebooks to help tourists plan the day's adventures at the check-in desk. For business travelers, there are a couple of meeting rooms, but the hotel lacks any true common areas.
