The four-pearl Hotel Neptuno is a beachfront property situated on Valencia's east coast, about a 20-minute drive from the Old Town and other tourist sites. Stylish interiors combine clean lines and modern furnishings with Pop Art paintings and colorful accents. The hotel's 50 rooms feature a minimalist Scandinavian style and amenities like minibars, plasma TVs, and free Wi-Fi, while suites add upscale perks like large furnished terraces with hot tubs and attractive bathrooms with both jetted tubs and hydromassage rainfall showers. There is a restaurant on-site, as well as health facilities that include a steam room, hot tub, fitness room, and spa treatments. For something more centrally located, travelers might want to consider the Vincci Lys, though it doesn't offer as many features
Scene
A mix of beach house and modern contemporary decor
From the outside, Hotel Neptuno doesn't have many distinguishing features. The whitewashed, rectangular building has a patio with outdoor seating for its restaurant and a handful of green plants in the entryway. Inside, Hotel Neptuno's decor is much more fun. In the reception area, Pop Art paintings with images of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe are interspersed with drawings and sculptures from Valencian artists. The furniture has a swanky beach house style with modern shapes built out of wicker and wood and topped with white cushions. Tridente restaurant displays a fun Mondrian-style theme of squares and primary colors. The hotel's comfortable atmosphere appeals to young couples and families as well as business travelers who want to enjoy a relaxing stay in between meetings.
Location
Right by the beach and the marina on the east coast of Valencia
The hotel is situated right by the end of Platja Del Cabanyal beach and near the Marina Real Juan Carlos I. Malvarrosa Beach is about a 20-minute walk north from the hotel, where guests will find beachside restaurants and a popular promenade. Several of Valencia's tourist destinations are a short drive away, like the City of Arts and Sciences Museum, which is under a 10-minute drive, and Valencia Cathedral, which is about a 20-minute drive -- both of these, however, take about an hour to reach by public transportation. The Gothic Silk Exchange building, in Valencia's Old Town, as well as the Central Market are about 20 minutes away by car or an hour by public transportation. Executives will be happy to know that the business section of Valencia, home to several notable offices, is about 10 minutes away by car or 30 minutes by public transportation. The nearest tram and bus stops are within a three-minute walk of the hotel. Valencia Airport is around a 20-minute drive away or 60 minutes by public transportation.
Rooms
Chic, streamline rooms with attractive bathrooms, plus upscale perks in suites
Hotel Neptuno's rooms have a sleek and stylish minimalist style reminiscent of Scandinavian design. The color palette is equally restrained, with warm browns, beiges, and off-white tones. The slim, stained wood headboards have an angular look and built-in nightstands, while Junior Suites and Suites offer sitting areas with sofas and armchairs. Rooms that face the coast offer lovely views, but the strong sun can make the spaces hot. Amenities include air-conditioning, minibars, safes, plasma TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Suites have large, private terraces with sundecks and hot tubs. Bathrooms have a refined design with modern fittings; bathrooms in Standard Rooms are shower-only, while suites have separate jetted tubs and walk-in rainfall hydromassage showers. Note that some rooms can get noise from beachfront bars.
Features
On-site restaurant, wellness facilities including fitness room and hot tub, and meeting rooms
Hotel Neptuno does a good job of offering a solid lineup of features with an upscale air. Trident, the on-site restaurant, serves various seafood dishes such as boiled octopus on potato pastry with bacon and smoked paprika, as well as more traditional bistro fare such as smoked Iberian ham with orange reduction. The Omega Terrace offers a comparable menu along with outdoor seating and views of the coastline. A breakfast buffet receives mixed reviews -- some guests love it, while others consider it overpriced for the selection. The wellness facilities include a small fitness room, steam room, and hot tub, plus massage treatments are available. The hotel also offers meeting rooms that range in size, with some big enough for 100 people, plus the rooftop terrace is available for cocktail parties. Parents of young children will be happy to know that cribs and rollaway beds are free, and babysitting can be arranged for a fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. On-site parking is available as well.
