Bottom Line

Hotel Conqueridor is an upper-middle-range property with decor and services that are a step up from the more basic chain hotels in the same price range. Breakfast isn't included with the price of a room, but "C" Restaurant serves tasty a la carte Mediterranean cuisine and Lobby-Bar has snacks and drinks for sale. The small fitness center has a free sauna for guest use as well. The location is ideal for those who want to explore the city of Valencia, though it may be worth comparing rates at the similarly-priced Ayre Hotel Astoria Palace, especially for those who want to be closer to high-end shops.

Scene

Calm and tranquil in an urban space, with artsy, streamlined decor

The lobby and public spaces at Conqueridor are thoughtfully decorated with interesting design elements, including a deconstructed painting of a woman's face and a single brown leather daybed on an abstract rug. "C" Restaurant has modern style with light hardwood floors and white or black dining chairs and clean lines. A chandelier with exposed bulbs hangs from the eatery’s ceiling. At Lounge-Bar, a flat-screen TV is built into the wall and a small gas fireplace adds flair. Large, colorful abstract paintings line the walls.

Location

In the city center of Valencia, near trains and an array of attractions; beaches are a 20-minute drive away.

Hotel Conqueridor is located in the city center of Valencia near both Joaquin Sorolla metro station, about a 15-minute walk away, and the main railway station, about 10 minutes away. The property is built on an urban street not too far from Plaza de la Reina and its cathedral as well as restaurants, museums, and the Central Market. There's a bit of graffiti on Conqueridor's street, but the area is reported as safe, with a supermarket just behind the hotel. Getting to the beaches of Las Arenas and La Malvarrosa requires about a 20-minute drive.

Rooms

Clean and quiet, with earth tones and splashes of color

Each of the 59 rooms and suites inside Conqueridor are air-conditioned, with flat-screen TVs and minibars. Even the single rooms are spacious and attractively decorated with earth tones and citrus colored throw pillows. (Watch out for twin-sized beds pushed together to make a double bed.)** **Views can vary, but the best ones are on the highest floors and face the streets of Valencia. Some white marble bathrooms have double sinks and full bathtubs.

Features

On-site Lounge-Bar and "C" Restaurant, but there's a charge for breakfast; fitness center with sauna available as well

With such low prices, you wouldn't expect much in the way of features, but Conqueridor delivers with a fitness center and small sauna. Wi-Fi is free (though it can be spotty from the guest rooms) and there's the fun Lounge-Bar for snacks, coffee, and cocktails. "C" Restaurant serves a breakfast buffet (for a charge) and a la carte lunch and dinner, with a focus on Mediterranean flavors. The "Cervantes" conference center is available for presentations and events.
