Hostal Venecia

Built in the 20th-century, the neoclassical exterior of Hostal Venecia has Roman columns and curvy wrought-iron balconies. Inside, some of the detailed molding may be original, but much of the decor is redone in a homey contemporary style. The lobby features stylish striped and damask wallpaper in light gray and white shades, which is complemented by black and burgundy bucket seats. Black furnishings include several lockers available for guests' use, plus there are two computer stations. The breakfast room has a streamlined look with dark wood chairs and tables, as well as white walls accented by damask patterned wallpaper and framed black-and-white photos. Overall, this budget choice suits young couples and small groups of friends seeking something a step up from a hostel.

Hostal Venecia is walking distance to Valencia's Old Town, which displays the city's Moorish roots. It's close to many tourist attractions that are either accessible by foot or a short ride away by car or public transportation. Mercado Central, a market known for selling an array of local food, is five minutes away on foot. The Valencia Cathedral, which was consecrated in 1238, is a seven-minute walk away. The City of Arts and Sciences, a futuristic interactive museum, is 10 minutes away by car or about 20 minutes by public transportation. The nearest metro station, Estacio del Nord, is an eight-minute walk from the hotel. The Palau de Congressos de València convention center, which holds many business events, is 10 minutes away by car or 22 by public transportation. Valencia Airport is around a 15- to 20-minute drive or 30 minutes by public transportation.

Decor in these rooms ranges, with some having been renovated more recently than others -- so furnishings can be a bit worn. Rooms have attractive wooden floors and either wooden or white furniture; some feature gray and white color schemes, while others have stylish damask panels above beds that pair with wooden wall panelling and white marble-topped wooden nightstands. Overall, they're clean and pleasant, though some can be small -- particularly the Economic Rooms, which don't have windows to the outside. Mattresses come in twin and double sizes. While all rooms have TVs and desks, few have much lounging space. Other amenities include safes and free Wi-Fi, plus some rooms have mini-fridges and balconies. Bathrooms are small and vary widely in style; some are a bit dated with bright, colorful tiling, shower/tub combos, and older fittings, while others are more modern, with large slate gray tiles and walk-in showers. Note that some guests have complained about noise in lower-floor rooms. 

This small, budget property offers few amenities, including a reasonably priced breakfast buffet that's served in a small dining room and gets positive reviews from guests. The lobby offers two computers for guest use, as well as a large flat-screen TV, a vending machine, and lockers. Laundry service is available on request. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
