More than a mile from historic city center

Presence of smoking rooms
The 378-room Expo Hotel Valencia is popular with budget travelers and groups, though it’s more than a mile away from the city center and many historic sites. The nearby metro and bus stops make the property’s location convenient for guests who don't like to stay in the thick of things. Guest rooms are clean but plain, giving off a dorm-room vibe. Travelers who don’t spend much time in their rooms may be fine with few amenities, but those who prefer spaces with character will be disappointed.
Scene
Bright and spacious lobby and an on-site bar
The large Expo Hotel Valencia is well-suited for organized tours and other groups traveling together. The property’s lobby is bright and spacious, featuring a pretty spiral staircase and an enormous chandelier. The Piano Bar, serving drinks and snacks all day, has oval windows almost like those in an airplane and a vibe that’s a bit like a transit lounge. What the space lacks in decor, it makes up for with its flat-screen TV, often tuned in to sports. The adjacent outdoor terrace lacks landscaping but offers people-watching opportunities as locals enter and leave the large shopping mall next door. The rooftop pool and its deck, open seasonally, is good for a dip or a nap under the Mediterranean sun on one of the surrounding lounge chairs.
Location
Across from Túria Park and part of a shopping mall; some distance away from historic sights
More than a mile away from the historic city center, Expo Hotel Valencia is on a major business thoroughfare and is part of a large mall complex with shops, restaurants, and a supermarket. Because of the distance from the city, there’s plenty of nearby parking, and there’s a metro and bus stop right outside the hotel for transportation to the beach or central tourist and business areas. Túria Park (Jardí del Túria), a converted riverbed that offers jogging and sports facility access, is just across the street.
Rooms
Plain and dated rooms that are meant for sleeping as opposed to hanging out
Rooms at Expo Hotel Valencia are clean but dated and worn, with tired furniture and little attention paid to decor. TVs are small, mattresses are thin and uncomfortable, and the AC can be problematic. The hotel also still offers smoking rooms; request a non-smoking guest room if that is an issue. Bathrooms are sizable, but there’s visible rust on some walls around the fixtures. Still, guests can rely upon the property as a reasonably priced place to stay for a night between destinations.
Features
On-site rooftop pool along with bar and eatery options
Expo Hotel Valencia offers few amenities, but there is a rooftop pool open in the warmer months and bike rentals just outside the property. The Piano Bar has snacks, drinks, and sports watching. The hotel's restaurant, La Mandarina, is reasonably priced and serves a leisurely three-course lunch of rich Valencian specialties, or guests can order a la carte from the lunch or dinner menus. La Terraza VLC Urban Club, a terrace-based bar and eatery that's open seasonably, offers cocktails along with snacks, burgers, and dessert.
