Bottom Line

Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort is an upper-middle-range hotel outside of Vail that offers great views, a quiet atmosphere, and easy access to Gore Creek. The 100 condos and townhouses vary in decor but are generally spacious with kitchens, fireplaces, and patios. Though they lack full daily housekeeping, free Wi-Fi is available throughout. A seasonal restaurant, heated pool, gym, massages, and nine tennis courts are enough to keep most guests entertained. For those that want to explore, the free Vail ski shuttle conveniently stops here. Simba Run Vail Condominiums are a good alternative with an indoor heated pool and a location closer to Vail.

Scene

Affordable resort with a rustic and homey decor and low-key clientele of families, couples, and friends

Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort is a contemporary hotel made up of privately-owned condos and townhouses, set on 20 acres of land on the outskirts of Vail, next to the beautiful Gore Creek. Like other Colorado resorts in ski towns, it has a rustic mountain lodge design with wooden accents inside and out, as well as cozy and homey decor such as a lobby with a fireplace, a comfy leather couch, and warm tones in the furniture. Most impressive is the outdoor spaces like the barbecue patio with a stone layout, iron chairs and tables, green lawns, and great views of the mountains. Thanks to a location so far from the main Vail area, the resort has a quiet, laid-back atmosphere and a clientele of families, couples, and friends.

Location

Located next to Gore Creek and an 11-minute drive to Vail's city center

Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort has a great location for those who don’t want to be in the busy hub of the main city. It’s about an 11-minute drive from Vail, just off Highway 79, surrounded by residential homes. There aren't any dining options or shops within easy walking distance. The free ski slope shuttle does service this property. Behind the hotel is Gore Creek, a great spot for fishing. It’s a 45-minute drive to Eagle County Airport.

Rooms

Condos and townhouses with full kitchens, patios, fireplaces, and free Wi-Fi

Condos and townhouses range from one- to three-bedroom units which are individually owned and have various decor and bed types. Generally, the decor is homey, rustic, or has a mountain theme. All units come with full modern kitchens with refrigerators, ovens, stoves, microwaves, coffeemakers, sinks, platter ware, utensils, and cookware. Fireplaces or woodstoves, flat-screen TVs with DVD players, patios, and free Wi-Fi are also provided in every unit. Some even have washers and dryers. Bathrooms vary in modernity but include basic toiletries, hairdryers, and shower/tub combos or showers. Some rooms have furnished balconies and pretty mountain views. Towel and trash services are provided daily, though full housekeeping service is only available for those with extended stays or for those willing to pay a fee.

Features

Heated pool, hot tub, gym, fitness classes, massages, tennis courts, restaurant, clothing shop, and free Wi-Fi

Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort’s facilities are impressive. There are an outdoor heated swimming pool and hot tub, as well as a health club with a 2,800-square-foot modern gym with cardio and weight equipment. Fitness classes like spin, aerobics, and yoga are available. A sauna, steam room, and massages are also on offer. To exercise outdoors, the hotel has nine tennis courts. Family-friendly perks include swimming or tennis lessons, an outdoor children’s playground, and a patio with gas grills. Inside, there’s a single restaurant, Blu’s Restaurant & Bar, which offers American cuisine for dinner. It’s, however, often closed during off-season. Breakfast and lunch are not available on-site, though coffee is provided in the lobby. A small shop sells clothing for men and women. There's free parking, a public computer, and free Wi-Fi throughout. Take note that free access to the gym, pool, and parking is only available when guests book directly through the hotel’s website.
