Bottom Line

The 44-room Inn at Entrada is an upper-middle-range boutique on a well-manicured desert landscape set against a red rock backdrop with an 18-hole Johnny Miller Signature golf course. A lodge-style restaurant overlooks the greens. Families often stay here in part due to the two indoor/outdoor pools, kiddy pool, and hot tub. Tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts and a well-equipped gym appeal to active types and there’s a small spa. The inn offers 44 stand-alone casitas with kitchenettes or kitchens, fireplaces in living rooms, and patios overlooking the golf greens, but prices are steep and include a daily resort fee.

Scene

Country club property in scenic desert setting with family-friendly facilities

The Inn at Entrada is an upper-middle-range retreat set on the 18-hole Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club with casitas spread out on an expansive and well-manicured desert landscape that features red rock backdrops, cacti, and man-made lakes with ducks and fountains. A lovely brick-colored entrance, supported by wooden beams, sits at the front of the property. The homey reception area offers free coffee and a comfy fireplace lounge with Native American artwork and a flat-screen TV. Overall, the inn’s quiet setting, 18 holes of golfing, and kid-friendly facilities appeal to well-heeled families, couples, and golf enthusiasts.

Location

Gated country club in St. George, near the national parks

Located on West Sinagua Trail in a gated community, this hotel is in a removed location of St. George that’s best suited for golfers since it provides direct access to the Entrada at Snow Canyon golf course. There aren’t any dining or shopping options in walking distance, but it’s a 15-minute car ride to Coyote Gulch Art Village and 10 minutes by car to concerts at the Tuacahn Center For the Arts. The historic district -- with St. George Utah Temple and St. George Tabernacle -- is a 15-minute drive away. Hiking and mountain biking in Snow Canyon State Park is 10 minutes away by car. It’s one hour to Zion National Park, and two hours and 30 minutes to Bryce Canyon National Park and Grand Canyon National Park. The drive to McCarran International Airport takes over two hours. It’s a 30-minute drive to St. George Municipal Airport.

Rooms

Cozy Southwestern casitas with kitchens, living rooms, patios, and fireplaces

Pinewood accents, Southwestern textiles, and fireplaces create a welcoming and stylish ambiance in these stand-alone residences with red rock designs at driveways that lead to private garages -- although Anasazi Studios offer parking across the street. Studios and suites -- with one to five bedrooms -- have one modernly designed bathroom per bedroom with whirlpool tubs and showers. Studios and some one-bedroom suites have kitchenettes. All other suites have kitchens with dishwashers, stove/ovens, and ample counter space. Cinnamon rolls or cookies are a lovely free perk. Two- and three-bedroom Casitas and Anasazi Suites offer kitchens and kitchenettes and two garages. The five-bedroom Johnny Miller Suite is on the ninth hole, and features golf memorabilia, a barbecue grill, a putting green, a recreation room with a pool table, and a hot tub. Every suite has flat-screen TVs, DVD players, irons, hairdryers, bathrobes, and patios that (in the best rooms) face the golf course. Many also have washer/dryer combos.

Features

Golf course access, sports center, indoor/outdoor pools, casual dining, and meeting spaces

The highlight of the Inn at Entrada is the 18-hole Johnny Miller Signature Design golf course, and the property offers room packages that include green fees in the rates. Ample sports facilities -- including two outdoor tennis courts, pickleball courts, a basketball court, and sandy volleyball court -- are offered in a 12,000-square-foot sports center. A large fitness center includes modern cardio- and weight- machines, free weights, spin bicycles, Pilates machines, and personal trainers.Families with kids hang out at the outdoor pool that features a kiddy pool, rock waterfall, and lounge chairs on the deck. The indoor pool is modern with recessed ceiling lights that reflect off the water, and a hot tub by windows. Standard pampering treatments are available in the small spa. With lovely cave-style designs and a fireplace, the Kokopelli Restaurant and Lounge has a cozy setting with a terrace overlooking the golf course. Guests should note that dinner reservations and country club attire are required. Light meals are served at the Entrada Snack Bar and gifts are sold in a small store. In the lobby is a business center and two meeting spaces are on-site. More conference rooms -- which together can be converted into a ballroom -- are in the clubhouse.
