Bottom Line

The 98-room Best Western Coral Hills is a value roadside property in St. George’s historic district. A heated pool, hot tub, and kiddy pool can be found by the parking lot, which large enough for RVs and buses; there is also an indoor pool and hot tub. A hot complimentary breakfast is served daily, and it can get quite crowded with guests. There’s also a small gym and putting green. Comfy brown furnishings fill rooms that feature mini-fridges and microwaves, and Honeymoon Suites have fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. Some also have balconies, but views don’t compare to the desert vistas at the Inn on the Cliff.

Scene

This value hotel features simple earth-tone interiors and ample outdoor parking.

This hotel provides affordable rooms and a convenient location for weary travelers on the road. In traditional motel fashion, the 1969-built Best Western Coral Hills features several buildings with brick exteriors and spacious outdoor parking for buses, RVs, and boat trailers. A small reception area features earth-tone designs, comfy leather seating, and postcards for sale by the front desk. Renovations were last done in 2014, so interiors feel fresh if nonetheless chain-like. Indoor corridors feature patterned carpeting and wallpaper, and outdoor hallways face the parking lot. Unfortunately this two-floor hotel doesn’t have an elevator. In general, the hotel attracts budget-minded travelers with Honeymoon Suites for couples and family-friendly facilities. Pet owners can also bring their pooches here.

Location

Near Main Street in the St. George with plenty to do in walking distance

This hotel is on a two-lane street, near the busy Main Street in St. George’s historic district. The close proximity to Interstate 15 makes this a convenient hotel for travelers passing through town. Runners in the St. George Marathon and Ironman often stay here. It’s a short walk to restaurants, cafes, and shops. Also within walking distance is the Brigham Young Winter Home, Opera House City of St. George, St. George Utah Temple, and St. George Tabernacle. Family-friendly activities -- St. George Children's Museum and Laser Mania Family Fun Center -- are also nearby. Outdoors lovers can reach Pioneer Park in five minutes, Zion National Park in one hour, and Bryce Canyon National Park in about two hours. Shopping at the Outlets at Zion is reachable in five minutes by car. The St George Municipal Airport is a 20-minute drive away.

Rooms

Comfy, simple rooms feature homey conveniences, and suites have fireplaces and whirlpool tubs.

Brown contemporary designs give rooms a homey atmosphere, but some have dated decor and carpeting that needs replacing. More space is available in North Wing rooms, which can fit rollaway beds. Each room features either a king or two queen beds with upholstered headboards, leather sitting chairs, and scenic photography. Select rooms have balconies, although views are uninteresting. Garden Spa Suites have whirlpool tubs and Honeymoon Suites feature heart-shaped whirlpool tubs and interiors outfitted with zebra prints, mirrored walls, chandeliers, leather tufted headboards, wet bars, and wingback chairs by fireplaces. Family Suites fit up to six people. All rooms have 42-inch or 50-inch flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, coffeemakers, microwaves, mini-fridges, irons, and DVDs on request. Bathrooms have mounted toiletries in shower/tub combos and hairdryers. Select rooms are ADA accessible. Roses and five-course dinners can be requested.

Features

Outdoor and indoor pools, breakfast dining room, a fitness center, laundry service, and a putting green

Facilities at the Best Western Coral Hills appeal to a wide range of travelers. At the front of the property is an outdoor pool -- heated from mid-October to mid-February -- with a waterfall, kiddy pool, and hot tub under a terrace. Another pool and hot tub are located indoors under skylights. A hearty hot breakfast (included in room rates) is served in a small dining hall that gets crowded. This hotel’s location attracts active types who take part in Ironman and the St. George Marathon. However, the fitness center is small with a few cardio machines. Guests also have access to Desert Palms Gym, which is a five-minute drive from the hotel. A self-serve laundry room is available on-site. A computer and printer are in the lobby and guests can borrow golf clubs and balls to play on the small outdoor putting green.
