Park Albatros is a huge family-friendly, value, camping village located in San Vincenzo, a popular summer vacation destination on the southern coast of Tuscany. Surrounded by the Val Di Cornia nature reserve, the property is structured like a small town: There's a supermarket, a post office, a bank, and a pharmacy. There's also a water park consisting of lagoon-style pools, along with shops, and four places to eat. Guests can opt to stay in mobile homes or bungalows, which have kitchens, private bathrooms, and front porches; in campers; or in tents pitched on one of the park's 885 sites. Communal washing machines and dryers are available (for a fee), along with hot showers, dish-washing sinks, and toilets.
Scene
A large, wooded property with a fun, lively atmosphere geared toward families
The camping village is surrounded by a large pine forest, and the bungalows, mobile homes, and camp sites are connected by tree-lined pathways. The park is spread out, but a shuttle train is available to transport guests from one end to the other. There's several outdoor seating areas, and Park Albatros is lively (there's evening entertainment) and packed with family-friendly activities -- in addition to the lagoon-style water park, bikes can be rented, team sports can be played (including organized competitions), and there's also mini-golf, Ping-Pong, tennis, and a children's playground and kids' club. The park can get quite crowded in high season, and it might not be the place for a quiet, relaxing interlude, although some camp sites are fairly far from the action, and therefore quieter.
Location
Located in a wooded area of the seaside town of San Vicenzo
Park Albatros is located in a wooded area near the seaside town of San Vincenzo, one of the most popular summer destinations on the Tuscan coast -- beaches are about a 15-minute walk from the Park Albatros. The park is about a 17-minute drive to San Vicenzo, where many boaters dock their yachts in the marina. The town is filled with swanky boutiques, restaurants, and bars. The nearest train station is in San Vicenzo, where trains connect to Pisa, Florence, and Rome. The camp park is also a 20-minute drive to the Parco Archeominerario di San Silvestro, which showcases the area's 3,000-year mining history. The nearest airport is Pisa International Airport, which is about an hour's drive away.
Rooms
Mobile home and bungalows with small bedrooms, private bathrooms, kitchens, and porches
Guests can opt for mobile homes or bungalows, which are slightly dated looking. The bungalows have two to three bedrooms -- they are compact and have either one double bed, or single beds and bunk beds. Each of the homes has its own private bathroom, which is also compact, containing just a sink, toilet, and small shower. They all include kitchens, dining areas, and front porches with tables and lounge chairs. Guests can also stay in their own campers, or pitch tents on one of the camp sites.
Features
A water park, two children's pools, four dining options, a supermarket, a pharmacy, an outdoor theater, and a playgound
This camping village is packed with such conveniences as a supermarket, a pharmacy, a bank, a post office, and a huge gift shop bazaar. Park Albatros includes four dining options -- two restaurants (one formal, one buffet), a bar, a takeout spot serving pizza, salads, chicken, and burgers, and an ice-cream parlor. The water park has several lagoon-style pools, and there's two children's pools, and an indoor pool. There's also an outdoor arena for evening entertainment, a game room, a playground with a ropes course, and a kids' club. The property is vast, and a shuttle train is available to transport guests around the grounds. Be aware that Wi-Fi service is extremely limited, and should not be counted on. Laptops are probably better left at home.
