This high-end resort is perfect for a relaxing getaway and offers excellent sport and recreational facilities. Though the golf course is the star attraction, many non-golfers come to enjoy the scenic beauty of the sea and rugged landscape of pine groves and mountains. The gym has modern equipment and there is a choice of indoor pool or outdoor pool. At the chic Espace Wellness Center, a variety of face and body treatments are available. Beaches are about a 10-minute drive from the hotel, and visitors should be expect fees for chairs and umbrellas. This is not a family-oriented spot as the kids playroom could use some refurbishing and there is no organized kids program.
Scene
Chic, modern design inside and a stunning, rustic landscape outside
Eye-catching contemporary design in the hotel's public spaces makes a nice contrast to the rustic outdoor landscape. The massive black and white lobby has slate floors and two-story windows that show off an expansive view of deep blue sky and mountains. Along the windows are intimate seating areas with curved couches, leather rocking chairs, and playful lamps. The public terrace overlooks the eighteenth hole of the golf course.
Location
On Monte Argentario, a six-minute drive from one of Italy's best beaches
About two hours north of Rome, the Argentario Resort Golf & Spa is situated just off the coast on island-like Monte Argentario. Though surrounded by the Tyrrhenian Sea, Mounte Argentario is connected to the mainland via two long sandbars. The rural location is known for its olive trees, villas, migratory birds and mountains. The hotel is in the interior of the island with several beaches close by. Feniglia Beach is a six-minute drive and Porte Ercole, a picturesque 16th century port with bars and restaurants, is about five minutes farther. Siena, one of the most visited Tuscan hill towns and UNESCO heritage site, is a 90-minute drive.
Rooms
Handsome and sleek contemporary design
Each of the 73 spacious guestrooms is sleek and modern, with wide bedding, wood floors, and a private balcony. There are five room categories as well as a private cottage with three bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, and home theater. As the rooms increase in price, so do the aesthetics. The higher-priced rooms have furniture handmade for the resort by local craftsmen and tubs made from the indigenous Serena stone. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, safes, and stocked minibars. Bathrooms offer separate bathtubs (some extra deep for soaking, some with jets) and showers.
