Bottom Line

Sailrock Resort on South Caicos offers the ultimate "desert island" escape, where you can disconnect completely while enjoying five-star luxury in an untouched, pristine setting. Set on the remote shores of South Caicos, this haven feels like being stranded on a private island—except with all the indulgent amenities you could dream of.

This Small Luxury Hotels of the World member delivers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Caicos Bank. Imagine kayaking to secluded sandbars, snorkeling in vibrant coral gardens at Starfish Alley, or simply lounging in your private heated infinity pool overlooking the beach.

While it may feel like you’ve escaped to the edge of the earth, Sailrock offers world-class dining, a serene spa, and a range of curated experiences that are the opposite of roughing it. With gourmet meals served at the Great House Restaurant and sunset views that will take your breath away, Sailrock perfectly balances the wild beauty of South Caicos with the comfort and sophistication of a five-star retreat.

Though it feels wonderfully remote, the resort is easily accessible via a short flight from Providenciales (and will soon offer direct flights from Miami in 2025).

Scene

This secluded island getaway has a barefoot luxury vibe with postcard-perfect beaches and plenty of privacy.

Leave behind the crowds and high-rise mega hotels of Turks and Caicos’ most popular vacation destination, Providenciales, and hop on a 30-minute puddle jumper flight to South Caicos. Just 8.2 square miles in total, this small slice of paradise is tucked between the uninhabited East Caicos and separated from the Turks Islands by the 20-mile wide Turks Island passage, leading to a desert-island type feel.

With only 36 villas and suites, you’re far more likely to run into one of the wild donkeys or horses that roam the islands than you are to encounter another human on the pristine stretches of sand surrounding the property.

Location

Sailrock is tucked away on tiny South Caicos island, the last island to the east in the Caicos Islands group.

Sailrock is situated on the serene, lesser-known South Caicos, the easternmost island in the Caicos Islands archipelago. With approximately 350 days of sunshine each year, South Caicos is the perfect place for a beach vacation. Set on a secluded spot on the island, Sailrock is perfectly positioned between the dramatic, wave-swept Atlantic Ocean and the tranquil, shallow waters of the Caribbean Sea. Just 500 steps separate the two distinct beaches—so you can spend your mornings watching the deep blue waves of the Atlantic crash against the shore and the afternoons wading in the calm, crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean. It’s the best of both worlds, all within a short stroll, creating an unrivaled setting for a beachside escape.

To reach South Caicos, fly into Turks & Caicos’ major international hub Providenciales International Airport. From there, it’s a quick and scenic 30-minute flight to the island, where a Sailrock team member will pick you up for the 15-minute drive to the resort.

In 2025, American Airlines will launch direct flights between Miami and South Caicos, making Sailrock even more accessible.

Rooms

Modern, airy suites and villas with stunning ocean views offer plenty of space and privacy.

Sailrock South Caicos offers a beautifully serene, effortlessly elegant atmosphere with minimalist décor that keeps the focus on the incredible views. The 12 standalone beachfront villas are spread across the property and designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding natural landscape. With private terraces, heated infinity pools, and sundecks, each villa offers an ideal setting for indoor-outdoor living, making it easy to relax and unwind without ever leaving your room. Set on a bluff above Long Beach, the villas feature floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors with screens that allow you to throw open the windows, let in the ocean breezes, and listen to the waves. Watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean from your private pool and then stroll down to the beach bar on the Caribbean side for spectacular sunsets in the evening.

Villas are airy, with high ceilings, ceiling fans, spacious eat-in kitchens, living areas, and bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and outdoor showers. They range from 1 to 4 bedrooms and 1,840 to 5,104 square feet and are perfect for everything from romantic couples’ retreats to family vacations.

Additionally, 12 Ridetop Suites feature wrap-around terraces where guests can catch sunrises and sunsets. The suites range from 892 to 2,503 square feet and have 1 to 2 bedrooms. All have convenient beach access just outside the door.

For those seeking even more solitude, Sailrock offers 11 Private Peninsula Villas, located on a low-density peninsula that provides added seclusion while still offering easy access to the resort's amenities.

Rooms are stocked with luxurious amenities, including Nespresso machines, water bottles, tea, plush bathrobes, and slippers.

Features

Water sports, land excursions, and plenty of beach amenities.

Sailrock’s design celebrates the breathtaking natural beauty of South Caicos. This island is home to one of the world’s largest barrier reef systems, where you’ll find over 50 species of coral and plenty of marine life, including spotted eagle rays, sea turtles, and tropical fish. The turquoise seas are warm year-round, making snorkeling or diving pleasant.

The beach here has everything you need for a relaxing day by the sea. Lounge chairs and umbrellas line the shore, along with overwater hammocks, water floats, snorkeling gear, glass-bottom kayaks, Hobie Cats, and stand-up paddleboards—all available for guests to enjoy free of charge.

You'll find a series of Ridgetop Spa Cabanas atop a hill overlooking the Caicos Bank, perfectly positioned to catch the refreshing sea breezes. These open-air cabins are the ideal setting for couples' massages or other rejuvenating treatments.

For those who want to stay active, the resort offers a small but well-equipped (and well air-conditioned) fitness center with treadmills, resistance machines, and free weights.

Sports enthusiasts can enjoy tennis, basketball, and pickleball courts, all set in the sand with stunning beach views.

Sailrock offers a wide range of activities, both complimentary and paid. On one rare rainy day, we took a mixology class with Agus, a charismatic bartender who shared his secret cocktail recipes featuring local ingredients—and even put on a show with a dramatic flaming cocktail.

For a truly special evening, consider booking a private chef dining experience. We had the pleasure of having Chef Janu prepare a three-course meal in our villa featuring locally caught lobster and other regional delicacies. It was, without a doubt, one of the best meals we’ve ever had.

Daily excursions offer opportunities to explore South Caicos and the surrounding waters. Options include:

  • Private Hobie Cat sailing lessons
  • Learn to Bonefish excursions
  • Bonfires and marshmallow roasting
  • Mixology classes
  • Boating and snorkeling adventures
  • Kayaking tours
  • ATV adventure
  • Fly fishing tours
  • Historic South Caicos tour
  • Community enrichment programs
  • Complimentary morning yoga classes

Food

Two open-air restaurants serve fresh, local cuisine against a stunning backdrop.

The Great House, open for breakfast and dinner, is perched on a wrap-around terrace offering sunrise and sunset views over the water. A rotating menu showcases seasonal ingredients and the catch of the day. There’s also a sunken bar area where guests can grab a cocktail before or after dinner.

The Cove, located on the sand on Sailrock Beach, is a classic beach bar with a creative twist. Open daily for lunch and sunset drinks, it serves frozen pina coladas, fresh seafood (don’t miss the fresh, local conch), and beachy favorites like burgers.

With only two restaurants on-site, you might wonder if the dining options will feel limited after a few days. But at Sailrock, the menu is anything but repetitive. The dinner offerings change nightly, and everything is cooked fresh to order. On our first night, our waitress mentioned that the chef was happy to customize any dish upon request, and guests are encouraged to order off-menu if they don’t see anything they’re craving.

Room service is also available and can be ordered over text using WhatsApp, making it easy to pre-schedule an in-room breakfast when you have an early excursion booked.
