Bottom Line

Directly across the street
from the beach in Treasure Island, the 83-room Treasure Bay Hotel & Marina is a
mid-range property in an enviable location. Rooms are spacious with coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and microwaves; some
rooms (on higher floors) have marina or gulf views from furnished balconies. This hotel has an outdoor pool and whirlpool with a few lounge chairs and
water toys including noodles for the kids. There are also a small fitness center
on-site, coin-operated guest laundry, and boat slips plus one free parking space per room. Plenty of restaurants and shops are within walking distance. The hotel is in a convenient location for a beach holiday, but there are several hotels in the area with similar rates and more amenities, such as Bilmar Beach Resort, a mid-range, beachfront hotel with dated decor, but
two restaurants on-site including one with nightly live music.

Scene

Mid-range, family-friendly hotel with boat slips, an outdoor pool, and a sundeck

The three-pearl Treasure Bay Hotel &
Marina is a pale yellow building with white balcony rails. Inside, potted plants and bamboo chairs give the simple lobby a tropical feel, while free fruit-infused water and coffee are a nice touch. Grassy lawns dotted with palm trees
decorate the property, and a spiral, white staircase leads up to a sundeck
where colorful tables and chairs under umbrellas are available for guests to enjoy the
bay breeze. A wooden dock with boat slips borders the property, and the outdoor
pool area has a stone deck and blue lounge chairs for relaxing. Plastic
deck boxes hold children’s water toys like noodles and boogie boards. Overall the property has a relaxed, welcoming feel, though some of the furniture (especially in the upstairs lounge) is quite dated and could use a refresh.

Location

Across the street from the beach in Treasure Island, not far from Tampa

This hotel is located just across the
street from sandy Treasure Island Beach on the Gulf of Mexico with public
restrooms and a snack bar. Treasure Island is located between St. Pete Beach
and Sand Key, and is around a half-hour drive to Clearwater. Dolphin Marine
Rentals is next door with water sport rentals, and there are lots of hotels and
restaurants in the area including a Waffle House next door. There’s a trolley
stop nearby that connects to a nearby Publix grocery store in five minutes. Tampa
International Airport is within a 40-minute drive, and Busch Gardens takes around 45 minutes to
reach by car.

Rooms

Spacious rooms with balconies and kitchenettes

Rooms at the hotel are spacious with lime
green walls, green carpeting, and handsome dark wooden furnishings. All rooms
have kitchenettes with mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers plus a small dining table for two. Rooms have wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and bathrooms with shower/tub combos with
curved curtain rods. All rooms have furnished balconies or patios. The hotel offers
both bay and gulf-view rooms, but guests advise that third-floor rooms have the
best gulf views, while lower-floor rooms mainly offer a view of the pool. While rooms are spacious and cozy, some elements of the decor are on the dated side, including patterned curtains and bedskirts.

Features

Outdoor pool and whirlpool, sundeck, fitness center, guest laundry, and boat slips

The best feature of Treasure Bay Hotel
& Marina is its location just across the street from a sandy beach. The property also has an outdoor pool and whirlpool with a few lounge chairs, and there’s a sundeck
with colorful tables and chairs under umbrellas. The hotel has a small fitness center with
a handful of modern machines including two treadmills, an elliptical machine,
and a weight machine. There’s an Internet corner with one computer and a
printer, and coin-operated laundry machines are available. A limited number of
boat slips are offered, and one free parking space is available per room. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
