Scene

Modern, sleek designs and downtown Toronto views

The Hilton Toronto is a 32-floor concrete high-rise that blends into the cityscape and offers views of downtown’s skyline from its glass elevator. Modern designs and a large front desk, manned by multiple staffers, fill the vast lobby. There are fun, quirky details in the decor, including tripod-style floor lamps and backlit staircases with marbled panels. White ethereal fabric pillars run the length of the two-story lobby and light up in purple hues, adding a softness to the sleek space. Business travelers and tourists often lounge on coffee-colored armchairs by the front desk or in the Tundra bar, where there’s a piano.

Location

In downtown Toronto connected to the PATH underground system

The hotel’s connection to the 17-mile PATH system provides access to some 1,200 shops. It’s the largest underground mall in the world and allows travelers to walk to Toronto’s sights even in inclement weather. Surrounding the hotel are eateries, the Soho House, shops, nightclubs, and bars. Across the street is the Canadian Opera company and National Ballet of Canada. Sights are easily accessible via subway, with the Osgoode station one block away. In 10-minutes walking distance is the Eaton Center mall and all the entertainment of Yonge-Dundas Square. The Financial District is also a 10-minute walk away. Sony Centre is 15 minutes on foot. It’s a 20-minute walk to the CN Tower, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Steam Whistle Brewing, and Rogers Centre. Toronto Pearson International Airport is a 30-minute drive.

Rooms

Traditional rooms have mini-fridges and city views, and suites offer living rooms and upscale amenities

Rooms are traditionally decorated in gray or earth-tone textiles, streamlined furniture, and large windows with city views, some facing the CN Tower or lake. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, safes, coffeemakers, hairdryers, and irons/ironing boards, and recycling bins are a nice “green” touch. Modern bathrooms have walk-in showers or shower/tub combos. Junior Alcove Suites offer sitting areas, and some have kitchenettes and minibars. Stylish, colorful decor fills one- and two-bedrooms suites that have bathrobes, and a variety of upscale amenities: soaking tubs, lake views, and Executive Lounge access. Each suite is individually decorated. The two-bedroom Hudson Bay Suite has three bathrooms, a dining area, living room with a fireplace and kitchenette. Art Deco designs fill the Margery Steele Suite. The two-bedroom Ontario Suite has a dining area. The Panorama Suite offers a kitchenette. Executive Floor rooms provide Executive Lounge access, with free Wi-Fi, breakfast, a boardroom, business center, and evening snacks. Accessible Rooms are available for those with mobility issues.

Features

Sleek indoor/outdoor pool, modern gym, meeting rooms, business center, on-site restaurant and bar, and Starbucks

The hotel’s atmosphere is business-friendly, but amenities also appeal to leisure travelers. A slanted ceiling with windows sits above the indoor heated pool and a swim passageway connects to the outdoor pool that’s surrounded by towering high-rises. The fitness center provides 24-hour access to state-of-the-art cardio and weight equipment. With over 20,000 square feet of meeting space, private functions of up to 2,000 people can be accommodated. Six Apple and PC computers are in the lobby for guests' use. The hotel’s modern restaurant and bar, Tundra, fits into the lobby setting with a dining room and sophisticated booth seating under a skylight. Also on-site is a Ruth’s Chris Steak House and a Starbucks.
