The 57-room Sercotel Hotel Pintor el Greco is a three-and-a-half-pearl property located in Toledo's atmospheric Jewish Quarter, adjacent to the Museo del Greco. Decor is a mix of traditional and modern details, with exposed brickwork and wooden beams throughout. Rooms feature flat-screen TVs, minibars, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi, though Standard Rooms are a bit plain. The cocktail bar is a highlight, with its quirky artwork, and a Spanish buffet breakfast is served on the terrace or in the breakfast room (for a fee). Lunch and dinner aren't served, and features here are otherwise limited. Prices are fair, but guests with bigger budgets who want a gym and pool might try nearby Beatriz Toledo Auditorium and Spa instead. Keep in mind that it's well outside of Toledo's old town.
Scene
Converted 17th-century bakery with classic and modern styles creating a romantic vibe
This hotel dates back to the 17th century, when the building was previously used as a bakery. That Old-World style has largely been preserved in the building's architecture, and makes its way into the overall atmosphere in interesting ways. Expect to see exposed brickwork and wooden beams everywhere from the lobby to the quirky cocktail bar and even in some of the guest rooms. It's not an entirely antique affair here, though, as the hotel is furnished with modern pieces and funky artwork. Those contrasts feel particularly apt in modern-day Spain, and help make this one of the more popular options in Toledo's atmospheric old town. The hotel is popular with couples looking for a quiet, romantic getaway, but it's not unusual to see families to pass through on occasion.
Location
In Toledo's gorgeous Jewish Quarter, next to the Museo del Greco
Hotel Pintor el Greco sits in Toledo's atmospheric old town, right in the city's Jewish Quarter and essentially adjacent to the El Greco Museum (which is fascinating, though not necessarily for its El Greco holdings). Toledo's Cathedral is around five minutes away on foot, and Iglesia Sant Tome, home to El Greco's famed "The Burial of Count Orgaz" is down the block. It's just over 10 minutes on foot to the Alcazar, which has stunning views over the region. Restaurants and bars are all around, as are the city's famous pastelarias. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from Toledo's main railway station, and journeys to and from Madrid-Barajas airport will take around an hour by car or cab.
Rooms
Ranging from chic to basic, with flat-screen TVs, minibars, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi
Guest rooms reflect the traditional elements of this restored historic building. You'll see a mix of details like wooden beams and heavy wooden doors, the occasional exposed brick wall, and dramatic arches. Furniture ranges from dark hardwood pieces in higher-category rooms to antiqued light wood sets in lower-category rooms, which sometimes look a bit tired. We suggest booking a Deluxe or Premium Room to guarantee you're getting the sharpest option in the hotel. Bed throws, pillows, and sparingly used artwork add a modern touch. Standard features include flat-screen TVs, minibars, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Higher category rooms add electric kettles. Bathrooms continue the mix of modern and traditional decor, and some feature glitzy patterned tilework plus shower/tub combos and vanities with a decent amount of counter space. Jetted tubs are available in all categories. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided.
