Bottom Line

The upper-middle-range Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo is a big and bustling property that can be a good value for travelers seeking low rates but don't mind using the metro and trains to get around. Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo's rooms have either stunning skyline or Tokyo Skytree views, and the 383 units all come with air-conditioning, free Handy Phones, and mini-fridges. The style ranges from slightly dated to fresh and modern on the hotel's Deluxe Floor -- the rooms there are definitely worth the upgrade. There are three restaurants, including the Ren Skytree which has amazing Tokyo city views, plus a free shuttle to Tokyo Disney that's a great value for families. If you'd prefer something closer to Tokyo's trendier areas, check the Shinjuku Granbell Hotel, where rates are just slightly higher.

Scene

Big and busy hotel with lively vibe plus rates that make it a bargain for Tokyo

Set in the less touristy Kinshicho neighborhood, the Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo is a big and bustling property that's popular with families, tour groups, and travelers looking for bargain rates. In fact, you can score a room here for far less money than at most of the more central Tokyo wards, though you'll likely need to rely on trains to get around. The hotel itself is big and busy, with common areas that are often packed with guests and arriving tour groups throughout the day. In the evenings, the lobby lounge also hosts live music on select nights. The look throughout Tobu Hotel Levant is pleasant enough, if slightly dated in spots, though you're likely not hanging out at the hotel much beyond unwinding in your room at night and maybe for a meal or two. That said, there are stunning views of Tokyo and the Tokyo Skytree from the rooms and especially from the top-floor restaurant, Ren Skytree, which draws hotel guests, locals, and tourists staying elsewhere. If you're looking for a Tokyo stay that's relatively cheap, but don't need tons of frills, Tobu Hotel Levant is a solid value.

Location

In Kinshicho, east of central Tokyo and surrounded by local spots, with easy access to trains and metro

Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo is situated in Kinshicho, an eastern Tokyo ward that's family-friendly and filled with local spots for food, drinks, and shopping. There's not too much of interest to tourists in this part of the city, with the exception of the Tokyo Skytree (one stop away on the Hanzomon Line) and the Sumida Hokusai Museum, which is 15 minutes away on foot. There are several wildly popular izakaya and ramen spots to the south of the hotel, within a five- to 10-minute walk. Reaching the Imperial Palace area or the Ginza takes about 30 minutes by train, while Shinjuku, Shibuya, and the trendy western districts are a 45-minute train ride from the hotel. Haneda Airport is up to an hour away from Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo by train or taxi (depending on traffic), while Narita Airport is just over an hour away by public transit.

Rooms

Range of rooms from simple to contemporary, including family-friendly units, all with great city or Skytree views

One of the biggest selling points of Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo are its views -- it's rare to find a Tokyo hotel in this price range with amazing city views. One side of the hotel has vantages across the insane Tokyo cityscape, while the other has direct views of the Tokyo Skytree, which lights up brilliantly at night. Vistas aside, the rooms here are pleasant, though there's a big difference in style depending on what category you're booking. We'd recommend upgrading to upper-floor Deluxe Rooms, which are fresh and contemporary, with bright fabrics, light wood furniture, and a generally sharp look. Other units here are simpler when it comes to style, and verge on dated. Even so, for rates like these it's hard to complain. Standard features in all rooms at Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo include free Handy Phones with international calling and data plans, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, and electric kettles. Upgraded Deluxe Rooms come with tea sets and Nespresso machines, as well as nice sitting areas. These rooms also have the best city and Skytree views in the hotel. Bathrooms are basic across the board, with bathtubs, decent counter space, towels, and toiletries provided. Rooms are quiet, and units are available that fit up to four people.

Features

Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo offers free Tokyo Disney shuttles plus three dining options, including Ren Skytree

Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo is a popular pick with families in part because of its free shuttles to Tokyo Disney. Without a doubt, this adds a lot of value to a property that already offers bargain rates in expensive Tokyo. And while you won't find a spa, pool, or gym at the hotel, there are three dining options to choose from, including a buffet restaurant that's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's popular for with bus tour groups for lunch, and there are live cooking stations at every meal. Otherwise, the lobby lounge serves drinks and snacks and hosts live music on select nights. It's frequently buzzing with hotel guests. Upstairs on the hotel's top floor, Ren Skytree is the crown jewel at the hotel. Here, traditional Japanese fare and an extensive sake menu are served alongside stunning city views. One half of the restaurant looks to the Tokyo Skytree, making this a popular venue for couples and special occasions. Otherwise, the hotel has event spaces as well as wedding venues that are both indoors and outdoors. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
