Scene

Luxury business hotel occupying certain floors of the enormous Midtown Tower

The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo is situated inside the Midtown Tower, which, at 814 feet (248.1 meters), was the tallest office building in Tokyo until it was surpassed by Toranomon Hills in 2014. The Ritz-Carlton occupies floors 45 through 53 of the skyscraper, and it features sleek and polished interiors with elegant decor. The lobby is grand without being over-the-top, thanks to a mix of black and cream-colored marble, high ceilings, and a few quintessentially Japanese design elements, such as a large bamboo and shrubbery centerpiece installation. Warm, neutral hues dominate the public spaces, garnished with contemporary artwork and elegant furnishings. Clientele is a well-heeled bunch of business travelers and tourists. Extensive meeting and event space means that the hotel gets a good number of conference groups.

Location

Prime location in the Midtown development, near shops, restaurants, and Roppongi Station

The Ritz-Carlton is situated in the Akasaka area of Tokyo, overlooking Hinokicho Park and a 10-minute walk from Roppongi Station. The hotel itself is inside the Midtown Tower, part of the larger Tokyo Midtown development, which it shares with office buildings, condos, and a five-story shopping mall, Galleria, full of restaurants and retail shops. Tokyo Tower is about 20 minutes away via public transportation, or a 24-minute walk from the hotel. Ueno Park, where many of the city's museums are located, can be reached in about 40 minutes by public transit. Getting to Narita Airport takes around an hour and 20 minutes by public transportation, while Haneda Airport can be reached in 40 minutes.

Rooms

Wide range of spacious rooms with luxe bathrooms and excellent city views

The hotel offers four room categories and 11 different types of suites. They're all spacious, with entry-level rooms starting at 560 square feet (52 square meters), while suites range between 861 square feet (80 square meters) and up to 3,300 square feet (307 square meters). Views are fantastic from all of the rooms, and it's possible to see Mount Fuji from many on clear days. Decor is sleek and contemporary, consisting of classic dark-wood furniture, lighter wood wall paneling, and a gray, brown, and beige color scheme. Small Japanese decor details -- such as patterned wall panels featuring traditional designs -- are a nice touch. Standard amenities across all categories include Nespresso coffeemakers, electric kettles and traditional Japanese teapots, well-stocked minibars, large flat-screen TVs with DVD players, electronic safes, and free Wi-Fi. Even entry-level rooms have large and luxurious bathrooms with two vanities, lighted mirrors, walk-in rainfall showers and separate soaking tubs, Toto-brand bidet toilets, and 17-inch flat-screen TVs. Robes, slippers, and high-end Asprey-brand toiletries are provided.Club-level rooms add a host of perks, the main one being access to the Club Lounge, which offers free breakfast, afternoon tea service, evening wine and hors d' oeuvres, and more.
