Hotel New Otani Tokyo The Main

The Main was originally built in 1962 in anticipation of the upcoming Olympic Games. The Hotel New Otani property consists of three buildings that are situated on a 10-acre, 400-year-old Japanese garden that can be traced back to a samurai lord. The Main and the Executive House ZEN are the two beautiful and luxurious parts of the New Otani complex, while Garden Tower could stand a facelift. The entry to The Main is chic and contemporary with abstract art and dark wood accents. The gray, black, and cream color palette gives the property an air of sophistication. Reflecting traditional luxury, the hotel attracts well-heeled leisure travelers along with business travelers. 

Akasaka is reputed as a place to see and be seen. The area is known for its nightlife culture, as well as high-end shopping and dining. Despite being a city center hotel, there are a number of cultural sites in the area. Several global embassies and government agencies are nearby, including the National Diet Building, which is a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Other tourist sites including the Suntory Museum of Art and the Imperial Palace are about 10 minutes away by car. Also, public transportation is readily available -- three subway stations are about eight minutes away on foot, and the Japan Railway (JR) is less than a 10-minute walk from the property. Haneda Airport is a 23-minute drive away.

The Hotel New Otani as a whole covers a lot of property and features a number of global dining options. Sekishin-Tei is a Teppanyaki restaurant offering Japanese, Chinese, and western cuisine. It sits in the Japanese garden, and large windows offer a view of the picturesque setting. The Sky Buffet and Bar is a rotating restaurant on the 17th floor, offering 360-degree views of the city. What sets this buffet apart from other eateries on property is that there's a Stage Kitchen where guests choose ingredients and the chefs prepare the items to-order. Other amenities include an expansive business center with work stations and conference rooms, banquet space for up to 2,000 guests, and free on-site parking. The historic Japanese garden covers 10 acres and features ponds and a waterfall. The outdoor pool is also in the garden and is touted as the largest hotel pool in Central Tokyo. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
