The largest hotel on Odaiba island, the upscale Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba is surrounded by shopping malls near the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center. With 30 floors, its view of the city skyline across Tokyo Bay is one of its best features. A top floor bar and restaurant take advantage of the backdrop, with several other on-site eateries serving a spectrum of Asian and Western cuisine. The 884 rooms have a contemporary decor with traditional European influences and marble bathrooms. Executive level rooms add free access to the health club and a breakfast voucher, both of which otherwise cost extra. Though it caters to a wide range of business and leisure travelers, guests with tattoos should note that they cannot use the pools or fitness center. The four-pearl Park Hotel Tokyo provides a good alternative, with views from the other side of the bay.
Scene
Upscale European-style events hotel with grand public spaces
The Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba's massive entrance opens into a vast space with floor-to-ceiling windows marked by shiny silver columns and a split staircase rising to the mezzanine. Farther in, the lobby is dominated by a domed ceiling supported by thick stone pillars, with blue chairs arranged around a central dais underneath. Directly above, balconies around the interior of the dome provide a view into the lobby from the third floor art gallery. The overall effect is grand, if a little cold. A mix of guests come to the property, from families to business travelers to couples.
