Dormy Inn Premium Shibuya Jingumae is surrounded by other multi-story buildings in a busy area of boutiques and restaurants. The large lobby area has an understated elegance that's surprising in a mid-range hotel. The floors are covered in chic wood-block tiling, and the illuminated reception counter is decorated with tiny mosaic tiles. The space is uncluttered, with only a circular sofa and two armchairs for seating. A large flower arrangement and a few potted plants add decorative touches. The hotel draws a wide range of travelers, including couples, solo travelers, and those in town for work.

In the immediate vicinity of the hotel are the many fashion boutiques, restaurants and cafes of Shibuya, and the railway tracks of the Yamanote line run just behind the hotel building. Meijijingu-Mae is the closest subway station, an eight-minute walk away, but Shibuya train and subway station is also accessible and just a few more minutes' walk from here. Tourist attractions like Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park are also located within walking distance.

All are air-conditioned, and come with  flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, electric kettles, coffee-pod machines, and air-purifiers. Some of the Twin Rooms have sofas. Irons and ironing boards are available on request, and guests can choose from five different types of pillows. Bathrooms are tiny, and they have either shower cabins or small Japanese-style bathtubs, with the bathroom sink located in the entrance hallway. They include hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, and toiletries. Sliding doors separate the hallway from the sleeping area. Decor is minimalist, with a neutral color palette of tame browns, beiges, grays, and whites. Many of the rooms have small windows and can seem dark as a result, and some guests have complained of noise from the nearby railway line. Double beds, at 55 inches wide, are a little narrow for two people -- a twin room may actually offer a couple more room.

The Dormy Inn Premium Shibuya Jingumae is notable for the number of freebies it offers. A buffet breakfast is included in the room rate and includes a wide variety of Western and Japanese dishes, with vegetarian options available on request. Free coffee and tea is served in the restaurant throughout the day, and in the evenings, it's free ramen noodles. Use of the heated public bath, filled with “ultra soft water,” is also free to guests, and in-room massage treatments are available on request. Guests can also use the washing machine at no extra charge -- and laundry detergent is free as well -- but there's an extra charge for the dryer.
