Bottom Line

The Sea Dance Resort is an upscale small boutique sitting in a quiet cove 15 minutes north of Chaweng Beach. There are 20 stylish rooms here, each decorated tastefully with fine wood desks, rattan chairs, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, and chic open air bathrooms with rain showers. The villas all come with their own plunge pool, although there is also a nice, big swimming pool right by the small beach with lounge chairs and natural shade. There is a fine Thai restaurant and wine bar set under a spacious thatched dome roof, and the resort is intimate enough that staff know everyone on a first name basis and provide extremely personalized service. The resort is a perfect choice for those looking for a quiet escape that's still near enough to the party areas. It's priced a bit higher than some of the competition but goes the extra mile in terms of service and attention.

Scene

Serene, upscale boutique resort

The Sea Dance Resort is a quiet and chilled out spot. You won't find too much activity going on here, nor is it a party zone like many of the spots in Chaweng Beach. This is a spot for families and couples to get away from it all. Guests will either be found lounging at the quiet pool or on the beach or else in the charming thatched roof restaurant. Guests tend to be younger, with a mix of families and couples, all looking for a peaceful beach escape. The personalized service is a highlight and because of its small size, the atmosphere remains peaceful even when full.

Location

Sits on a quiet cove and beach 15 minutes north of Chaweng and just 10 minutes from the airport

The Sea Dance Resort is located in Bophut, north of Chaweng Beach, on a quiet cove shared only by one other resort. It's a quiet and peaceful spot, and the beach location is pleasant, even if it is a bit small and rocky. The resort sits down a dead end drive, so there is no noise and no traffic. The only drawback of this excellent spot is that there are not many other restaurants and shops within walking distance (there is one Korean and one Thai restaurant 10 minutes away, plus a 7-11), meaning one has to eat in the resort or else pay for expensive taxis to go out. On the plus side, the airport is only a 10-minute drive away.

Rooms

Artsy, thatched roof bungalows, some of which have plunge pools and open air bathrooms with rain showers

There are two types of room choices at the Sea Dance Resort: private pool villas with their own plunge pools or cottages in the lovely garden. Both are thatched roofed and have open air bathrooms with rain showers. Rooms are tastefully decorated with rattan chairs and fine wood desks and have plenty of windows making them light and airy. There are both fans and air-conditioning in each. There are plenty of personal artistic touches in each bungalow such as lamps made from petrified shells or the cute ant head towel hangers in the bathrooms. Every room features a 32-inch flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, minibars, and safes that aren't traditional metal boxes with PIN numbers, but giant wooden chests with locks. Bathrobes, slippers, flip-flops, and beach gear are also provided. As the bathrooms are open air, they can get a few mosquitoes, although there are mosquito coils provided for every room.

Features

Small pool by the beach and romantic Thai restaurant and wine bar

The Sea Dance Resort is a small place and doesn't have features like a gym or spa. It does, however, have a swimming pool by the beach that has a pool bar in it, with bar stools in the water to swim up to. The resort also has an intimate restaurant set under a giant thatched roof. The Sea Bass is the sister restaurant of the award winning Lemongrass Thai restaurant in Dubai, and serves Thai dishes to go with the large wine cellar that the resort has added to the eatery. Dinners are served here under candlelight next to the sea. The beach is small and there are rocks in the sea in front of it, but it's a quiet spot as there is only one other resort along it, and the resort has set up sun loungers to relax on. Wi-Fi is free, but can be slow at times.
