The Red Ginger is more popular with couples than with families, owing largely to its low-key, adult-centric ambience and lack of children's activities. The resort is centered around its beautiful freshwater swimming pool, which has a bar designed like a bird cage at one end, and barstools in the water. The pool is the hotel's main hangout area and can be accessed from the ground-floor guest rooms. There is just one small restaurant but it's quiet except at breakfast. Nights at the hotel are calm, with most guests heading out on the town to eat or drink.

Located in the middle of the Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara beach areas, the resort sits on a side street off the beach, near some of the more chic properties in town. It's only a short walk to the beach and to bars and restaurants, but the resort's side-street location means that it stays fairly quiet. The Krabi Airport is a half-hour drive away.

Rooms at the Red Ginger Chic Resort are centered around the pool, and offer direct pool access or great pool views from spacious balconies. Decor includes bright red tones and design features including southern Thai-style bird cages. Guests in the Pool Access Rooms can access the pool from their patios, but guests may prefer the spacious upper-floor Club Rooms, which have their beds placed in a loft above the main living space. All rooms have free Wi-Fi and come with satellite television; beach baskets for outings are also provided. Most bathrooms are snug and feature walk-in showers, although those in the Club Rooms are a little roomier and have shower/tub combos.
