Pinnacle Resort Samui is a 71-room upper-middle-range hotel along Maenam Beach in Koh Samui. The hotel attracts primarily couples with its Thai style and peaceful setting within walking distance of restaurants and bars. The design blends Thai and beachy styles, with lots of open-air spaces, colorful fabrics, and bamboo walls in some of the rooms. Rooms in individual bungalows are more charmingly traditional than those in the main building, but all come with free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges. An all-day restaurant serves free breakfasts with hot fare, plus Thai and international cuisines for lunch and dinner. A lovely ocean-view infinity pool and small spa round out facilities. For a nearby option with more features, Paradise Beach Resort offers water sports, two pools, and a larger spa, but it's pricier.
Scene
Peaceful resort with some pleasant Thai-style decor
Most travelers that come to Pinnacle Resort Samui are looking for a peaceful getaway away from the party atmosphere found at Lamai and Chaweng Beaches. Although the beach here isn't quite as impressive as those mentioned, it's lovely, and the hotel's common spaces provide lovely ocean views. Rooms are split between a main low-rise building with contemporary decor, and individual bungalows that have more traditional Thai furnishings. Public spaces with bamboo plants, satin patterned throws, and wall hangings continue the Thai look. A laid-back beachy feel permeates throughout, thanks to casual outdoor restaurant seating, loads of palm trees, and colorful accents in walls and fabrics.
Location
Quiet beachfront location, walking distance to some restaurants
Pinnacle Resort Samui sits on a quiet and idyllic stretch of Maenam Beach, offering a peaceful alternative to the popular Chaweng and Lamai Beaches -- both about a 33-minute drive away. Although not numerous, there are several restaurants, bars, and cafes within walking distance. Visitors are also within walking distance of a few popular sights, such as Big Buddha (22-minute walk), Crocodile Farm (17-minute walk), Wat Plai Laem (27-minute walk), and Wat Laem Suwannaram (28-minute walk). Samui Airport isa 25-minute drive from the hotel.
Rooms
Spacious rooms with varying decor, outdoor spaces, and mini-fridges
The 71 rooms are split between the main low-rise building and individual bungalows. Units in the former are more contemporary and generic, with dark-wood furniture, beige walls and tile floors, and mostly neutral-tone linens, though green accent walls, throw pillows, and bed runners, and blue-and-green water-like paintings over the beds add some pleasant pops of color. Bungalows, meanwhile, have more traditional Thai style with woven bamboo walls and pitched ceilings, local wall hangings and artwork, and satin patterned bed runners. They're a bit darker and smaller, and not as modern, but they're charming. All rooms have furnished outdoor spaces, as well as air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. Straightforward bathrooms have showers, wall-mounted hairdryers, and free toiletries, plus bathrobes are in the wardrobes.
Features
Infinity pool overlooking sunbed-equipped beach, and free breakfast at the restaurant
Features are limited but sufficient at Pinnacle Resort Samui, with the highlight being direct access to Maenam Beach. The quiet and wide stretch of beach is lined with free cushioned loungers and umbrellas. Overlooking the beach and ocean is the freeform infinity pool with a shallow section for kids. Palm trees, sunbeds, and umbrellas surround the pool. For further relaxation, a small spa has an ocean-view massage hut, as well as a small indoor area. Various massages and wellness treatments are available here. There are no fitness facilities, however. All rates include free well-regarded breakfasts at the restaurant, consisting of made-to-order eggs, fruit, cold meats and cheeses, and yogurt. Lunch and dinner menus consist of Thai and international fare, and guests can dine indoors in a room with windows overlooking the ocean, or on an alfresco terrace.
