The upper-mid-range Deevana Plaza Krabi is a large hotel that attracts business travelers with its conference facilities and leisure travelers thanks to its long pool that's directly accessible from many of the rooms. All rooms have patios or balconies as well as free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and picnic baskets that guests can use to transport food and gear to the beach. There are also a couple of bars -- one of which is poolside -- and a restaurant serving a breakfast buffet in the morning and a la carte selections at lunch and dinner. It's also one of the few hotels in Ao Nang with conference facilities and Wi-Fi is free throughout. However, it's not on the beach and the nearest stretch of coast is rocky and not good for swimming. Those wanting direct beach access should look elsewhere, like the Aonang Villa Resort.
Scene
Busy swimming pool scene in a casual resort popular with business and leisure travelers
Although its conference facilities make it an appropriate spot for business travelers, the Deevana Plaza has a relaxed resort feel and attracts many vacationing couples and families. The overall vibe and dress code remain casual, despite the relatively high price tag. Most guests hang out around the long, narrow set of swimming pools, which have private niches and can be directly accessed from some rooms. The bird-themed Sunbird Pool Bar and Kingfisher Restaurant sit just adjacent to the pool and are oftentimes busy.
Location
At the end of a quiet side street near shops and restaurants
The hotel sits at the end of a side street known as "chic street" due to its numerous upscale boutique properties. It's just off the main Ao Nang-Noppharat Thara Beach Road and gets little traffic. There are plenty of restaurants, convenience stores, and street vendors within close walking distance. The beach is a 10-minute walk away, although its abundance of rocks makes it less than ideal for swimming. Better beaches are easily accessible by tuk-tuk and there's a pier from which longtail boats take tourists out to the nearby islands for day trips.
Rooms
Contemporary rooms with balconies or patios and lots of amenities, some with direct pool access
The rooms at the Deevana Plaza come with large flat-screen TVs, kettles, minibars, safes, irons and ironing boards, and even picnic baskets to take to the beach or pool. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Decor is simple and contemporary, with a mix of gray tiles, baby blue accent walls, and chestnut-hued wooden furniture. Rooms are all about the same size, but while the Deluxe Rooms have small balconies without much of a view, the Premier and Pool Access Rooms have pool views and direct pool access, respectively, as well as DVD players and bathtubs. Pool Access Rooms also have large love seats on their patios.
Features
Long swimming pool with nooks, kids' pool, bird-themed bars and restaurant, conference facilities
The Deevana Plaza has two bars: the contemporary Starling Lobby Lounge and the more relaxed Sun Bird Pool Bar, both of which also serve snacks. The Kingfisher restaurant serves a buffet at breakfast and Thai and international fare, a la carte, at lunch and dinner. Room service is also available. The long, narrow swimming pool is arguably the hotel's biggest draw, and there are plenty of little niches to hang out in. Its only drawback is that the main lounging area does not get much sun in the afternoon. There is also a small kids' pool as well as a kids' club. Other features include a small spa and a fitness center. The hotel has five meeting rooms, the largest of which can seat up to 300 guests, a feature that's not common in Ao Nang hotels.
