Feels more like a guesthouse than a resort
On a busy road
The Koh Tao Simple Life Resort is a good place for young partiers. It's not on the beach, but it's conveniently close to Sairee's dining and drinking spots and has its own pizzeria and bar that stay open late. Clean, mid-range rooms are simple but not without charm, and higher-end rooms have lovely terraces. This is also one of the only resorts right in Sairee with a decent pool. While many guests are more interested in taking diving lessons at the on-site school than in partying, plenty are interested in both, so it may be a bit rowdy for those looking for a quiet vacation.
Scene
Subdued budget-friendly party spot with diving courses
The two-story hotel looks a bit basic from the outside, although its pretty grounds with landscaping and lots of tropical greenery enhance its otherwise guesthouse-like ambience. The lobby is a simple, open-air space with padded bench seating. With its happening pizza-pub out front, Simple Life Resort can be pretty lively at night, and it attracts its share of young backpackers, who come for the affordably priced rooms and easy access to the rest of Sairee. However, it isn't all about partying here, and plenty of guests -- including families -- come to enroll the in the resort's diving courses.
Location
Central Sairee town location near drinking and dining, but not on the beach
The resort is located in Sairee town set back from the main road. It's a few blocks away from the biggest concentration of bars in town, but the property itself is relatively quiet during the day. It's within walking distance of all of the town's eating and drinking options, as well as Sairee Beach. It's just a five-minute drive over to the ferry pier at Mae Haad.
Rooms
Rooms are a bit simple, but higher-tier options have terraces.
Rooms here are a bit simple (this isn't a luxury property), and showing a bit of wear and tear, such as scuff marks on the furniture and walls. But they do have some Thai decor accents that add a bit of charm, as well as brightly colored accent walls and towel swans on the beds. Standard Rooms are the most basic, but the Standard Boutique, Superior, and Deluxe options are quite a bit nicer, offering terraces and plenty of space. All rooms feature satellite TV, safes, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. The upper-floor rooms have pleasant views of the hotel's back garden.
Features
Pleasant pool and happening pizzeria with bar
The resort is one of the few in this part of town to feature a swimming pool, which is medium-size and surrounded by lounge chairs and umbrellas. The on-site spa is really nothing more than a tiny massage room, but the restaurant is a happening place, and turns into a popular pizza pub at night. Breakfast is included in the rate.
