KC Beach Club and Pool Villas is an upper-middle-range boutique hotel located right on Chaweng Beach and a short walk into town. Rooms are modern and clean, with flat-screen TVs, strong free Wi-Fi connections, minibars, and whirlpool tubs; most also have balconies and some have patios with direct pool access. It's a bit of a party scene with live DJ music morning until night, plus two pools, two on-site restaurants, and beachside massages. Guests looking for a quiet retreat may prefer to stay elsewhere
Scene
Beachside resort with party vibe
If looking for peace and quiet at Chaweng Beach, this is probably not the best resort choice. This party hotel features loud music from morning until well into the night and caters to tourists who are more interested in a Spring Break-type experience than a relaxing getaway. There are pool parties and evening entertainment options -- ranging from saxophone players/drummers to dancers and fire shows. The hotel features a lot of white in common areas, from its stark facade to the white cushioned lounge chairs that flank the pool. It's offset nicely by the blues of the water, tiles in the pool, the tinted glass on the hotel balconies, and a few hedges and small trees in clay pots. The lobby is a long, white, unremarkable tiled area with a few sand-colored couches, beige chairs, and a wooden reception desk. There's also a gaudy-looking wall painting of people partying behind the desk that doesn't quite match with the miniature Koi pond and aquarium also present.
Location
Located steps from Chaweng Beach near downtown Bophut
Located just a 10-minute drive from the airport, the KC Beach Club and Pool Villas is located directly on one of the best beaches in Koh Samui. It's convenient to the downtown area -- and easily walkable to its shops, restaurants, and markets. The Samui Airport is a 45-minute drive away.
Rooms
Modern rooms with whirlpool tubs and balconies or patios
The 42 rooms in this beachfront hotel are modern and minimally decorated. The decor is mostly white with a few gray, blue, and taupe accents in the curtains, headboards, and tiles, and fits in well with the rest of the resort's hip beach club look. Most rooms have king-size platform beds, flat-screen TVs, free and fast Wi-Fi, electric kettles, and minibars. Quirky extras such as beanbags instead of formal chairs give the rooms a feeling of comfort to balance the predominantly clean lines and contemporary look. The bathrooms have showers with good water pressure as well as whirlpool tubs, but there can sometimes be issues with getting clean water to come out of the jets (disappointing if planning a long soak). All come with toiletries, hairdryers, and robes/slippers.Most rooms have balconies and some have patios that open up almost directly into the main pool. Note that the power shuts off when guests remove keycards from your room and leave to go out; if hoping
to keep anything in the minibar cold, ask for a second keycard to leave in the
power slot in your room at all times.
Features
Two pools, beachside massages, on-site restaurants/bars, and resort reciprocity
There are two small pools at this hotel. The freeform Beach Club pool overlooks Chaweng Beach and has plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas for those who wish to sunbathe away from the sand. The main pool at the hotel's center is more lap-friendly thanks to a standard rectangular shape, and some of the rooms have patios that open up almost right into the water. The hotel has a strict towel rationing policy, and guests are only allowed one towel each at the pool. Guests who ask for extra towels in the rooms have to pay extra (although swapouts of dirty towels are allowed before daily housekeeping -- guests may find this ironic considering the towels are of poor quality and need an upgrade. The poolside Neo
Restaurant serves a good but pricey Italian menu, and
the trendy Beach Club Bar has cocktails and snacks. The KC Beach Club lobby lounge is another hip place to grab a drink at its full bar and there is a billiards table should the mood strike. A breakfast buffet is served daily, but it is small -- even though it
has a cook-to-order egg menu -- and generally not worth the extra money. While the hotel lacks a spa, there are massages available in a hut on the beach. The hotel is affiliated with the KC Resort & Over Water Villas; guests can get free transfers to that hotel in the hills and use the facilities for free -- these include a fitness center, indoor/outdoor spa, and infinity pool.
