Beyond Resort Krabi

Part of the Kata Group, Beyond Resort doesn't have the pagoda roofs and traditionally Thai ornamental details that other resorts in the Krabi region possess, but this is a contemporary property through and through. The four-story glass-and-concrete buildings have distinctive wave-like roofs, while the lobby, which is surrounded by glass windows, has small clusters of modern wicker seating with brightly colored padding arranged next to walls of windows. The area is spacious and airy, and tropical flowers add additional pops of color to the otherwise minimalistic space. The enormous outdoor infinity pool lies between the buildings and the sandy beach. Beyond Cafe is surrounded by glass walls and windows, featuring little decor beyond tasteful wood tables and chairs. There is also a pool bar with plenty of patio seating. Guests here are predominantly couples, though families also pass through. 

Beyond Resort is located at the northern end of Klong Muang beach, alongside a couple of other resorts -- Nakamanda and Andaman Holiday Resort, both of which are about a 10-minute walk away. There is a plaza with a couple of shops and restaurants a 15-minute walk down the beach and a 7-Eleven and an ATM a 15-minute walk down the road, but otherwise there's not much nearby. Ao Nang Beach is a 20-minute drive from the hotel and Krabi town is a 30-minute drive away. Krabi International Airport can take up to 40 minutes to reach by road. Boat trips to the islands and the scenic karst formations in Phang Nga Bay are available from the hotel. Additionally, kayaking in the scenic canyons of Ao Thalene is about 40 minutes away by road. Ferries to Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi also depart from Ao Thalene.

Decor varies from category to category here, but all rooms have a sleek and stylish vibe that skews toward a minimalist, design-conscious aesthetic. Although there is no wall art, rooms like the Deluxe Sea View Room we visited utilize features like a striking hardwood wall with built-in lighting and a blue accent wall to make a visual statement. Cottage Rooms are painted in warm, vibrant colors and have recessed ceilings, while villas are exceptionally attractive. The Villa Pamukale has a fresh white and light blue palette and an open, breezy layout, with simple white furniture, including a woven daybed with bright orange textiles and white marble floors. Every room features a flat-screen TV, minibar, safe, bathrobe, slippers, electric kettle, and free Wi-Fi access. There is a large private balcony or patio that usually features a couple of chairs and small table. Those on higher floors have spectacular views of Phang Nga Bay and the islands. Bathrooms are spacious, particularly in the villas, which have beautiful adobe showers, but none have tubs. Bathroom fixtures are sharp and contemporary, including elements like square raised sinks.

The major feature here is the beach, which is long and wide, with gentle surf and lounge chairs for guests to soak up the sun or relax under the palm trees. The hotel's striking infinity pool with multiple jetted areas looks out over the beach, and there is a poolside bar. The pool is massive and has plenty of space to relax in stylish lounge chairs. There is a small fitness center with a handful of weight and workout machines, men’s and women’s saunas, and a couple of massage rooms. Large international buffets featuring hot and cold items are available every morning, and Thai and international fare is served in the restaurant daily. Food is also available through room service and there is frequently entertainment at night. Breakfast isn't included with most room rates. Kayak and bike rentals are available and boat tours, excursions and airport transfers are available for an extra charge. The property hosts weddings and events regularly. The resort offers free Wi-Fi access throughout the property and free parking on site.
