Bottom Line

The six-room Baan Habeebee Resort is a rustic two-and-a-half-pearl property located outside Ao Nang, about a five-minute ride from the beach. It's a quite, peaceful place with bungalows and a villa crafted of wood in a traditional Thai Lanna style. Rooms offer flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and balconies, and the two-bedroom villa has a private pool. There's not much in the way of features except a lovely outdoor pool, and while there's no proper restaurant or alcohol available, a free breakfast is offered and other meals can be ordered as well. Travelers looking for more action closer to the beach could check out the Aonang Villa Resort, which has a spa, fitness center, and on-site restaurants. Rates there are just slightly higher.

Scene

Lush, natural setting with quiet, peaceful atmosphere

This little resort is nestled within a beautiful tropical setting with lush jungle growing all around. The seclusion is part of the reason many guests flock here and the humble and rustic style reflects that quiet ethos. Much of the decor is crafted of local wood, including the front desk, tables, and stools in the open-air lobby. Flowers bloom along the pathways outside, giving everything just a touch of romance. The bungalows and villa surround a pool in the center of the property, and there's a distinct home-like quality to a stay here. It's worth noting that no alcohol is served due to the owners religious beliefs, but this only tends to enhance the low-key and unpretentious vibe of the place. Most guests are couples, but families and small groups of friends also stay here.

Location

Located outside Ao Nang a five-minute drive to beaches and city center

This hotel is located just outside Ao Nang, close to the Nopparat Pier and about a five-minute drive from both Ao Nang and Nopparat Thara beaches. A few restaurants are within walking distance, as are a supermarket and convenience store, but otherwise there's not much to see and do within an easy walk. The hotel provides free shuttle service to the town center, about a five-minute ride from the property. Krabi is about a 20-minute drive away, and the Krabi Airport is about 30 minutes.

Rooms

Wood bungalows with kitchenettes, flat-screen TVs, and balconies, two-bedroom villa with private pool

This hotel's six bungalows and one villa are all totally constructed of wood in a traditional Thai Lanna style. The furniture and blinds also are wood, which gives a rich, warm look that some may consider dark. Even the bathroom sinks are made from carved pieces of wood. Mosquito netting tops beds, a functional detail that nevertheless has its own charm, and orchids hang on the walls, providing a dash of needed color. Amenities include air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, DVD/CD players, minibars, and laptop-sized safes. Kitchenettes offer tea/coffee makers, microwaves, and free bottled water. One has a cook top and washing machine. Bathrooms have hairdryers and toiletries, though some have only hand-held showers in the tubs. Balconies are furnished with carved wooden benches. The villa has two bedrooms with a bunk bed in the second bedroom. It also has a private pool with lounge chairs on the wooden deck and a hanging chair as well.

Features

Free breakfast, outdoor pool

The hotel doesn't have much in the way of features, though that doesn't seem to bother most of the guests that pass through here. There is no restaurant on-site, but the hotel will order food from a local restaurant and have it brought in, including a free breakfast that's served daily. Tables and stools are set up in the open-air lobby for dining. Keep in mind that no alcohol is served on-site.The outdoor pool is small, but lovely, surrounded by a wooden deck and tropical vegetation. A few cushions are available for lounging poolside, and there's a shallow area for the kids. Scooters can be rented, which come in handy for exploring the area (as there's not much nearby within an easy walk), and the hotel's tour desk can arrange excursions. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, and the hotel runs a free shuttle into Ao Nang.
