Scene

A laid back, modern hotel near the buzz of downtown with quiet common areas and great leisure facilities

Am Samui Palace is a large modern hotel with a laid back family-friendly vibe. The hotel includes a range of quiet common areas and leisure facilities, including two large outdoor swimming pools and a multi-cuisine restaurant. The main pool features a freeform shape and is lined by manicured tropical greenery and tall palms. The second pool is larger and features a more contemporary design, with multiple tiers and sections that include a shallow kids' pool, a lap pool, a lagoon-like area, and a swim-up bar. The swimming pools tend to be a hub of activity throughout the day and during high season can get fairly crowded at times. Am Restaurant is housed in a large semi open-air hall and features a clean modern aesthetic, indoor and alfresco dining areas, and an open-plan kitchen. For the most part, the hotel gets minimal traffic noise and is fairly quiet, though at night music from nearby bars can be heard from some of the rooms.

Location

Located in the heart of downtown Lamai, within a five-minute walk of the beach, restaurants, bars, and shops

Am Samui Palace is ideally located in the heart of downtown Lamai, near plenty of restaurants, bars, spas, and shops -- plus it's less than a five-minute walk from Lamai's picturesque white-sand beaches. Across the street from the hotel is the Lamai Night Plaza, a small pedestrian-friendly night bazaar dotted with local vendors selling handicrafts, clothing, and trinkets. Samui's main tourism and party hub, Chaweng, is located about a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Chaweng features a buzzing nightlife scene with a large range of nightclubs, cabaret shows, and local bars from which to choose. There is also a great selection of dining and shopping options in the area, including Samui's largest shopping mall, Central Festival Samui. It offers a cinema, a supermarket, and a decent selection of international and local brands. Guests heading to Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, and Surat Thani (mainland) can catch a Lomprayah catamaran speedboat at the Maenam Pier, located a 45-minute drive from the hotel. Lomprayah has the reputation of being the most reliable and quickest boat to get to the surrounding islands, though it's priced slightly higher than some of the alternative transfer options. Samui International Airport is located about a 40-minute drive from the hotel.
