Vincci Tenerife Golf

Couples are drawn to the Vincci Tenerife Golf Hotel for its secluded location in a small, quiet oceanfront town far from the more touristy areas of Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos, and Costa Adeje. The property is generally appealing, but the the common areas and some of the rooms could use some updating, with some guests complaining of mattresses well past their prime, and subpar food. Decor is pleasing overall, with a subtle ocean theme in the lobby, and blue and green color palettes in the rooms, evoking the ocean and the earth. The most stylish feature here is the pool, which has a wooden deck, straw umbrellas, and padded loungers with the ocean as a backdrop.

The hotel is located at the southernmost end of a secluded beach community that's a short drive from the airport. There is a strip mall with a few shops and a supermarket across the street, and a couple of bars can be found within a few blocks, but those looking to eat out or explore the area may want to consider renting a car, as there is not much of interest within easy walking distance. The nearest beach is a few steps down from the pool deck and is generally empty, but it is rocky and not the most comfortable. There is a bus stop a five-minute walk from the hotel, and several local buses run parallel to the coast, meaning it’s easy (if not quite time-efficient) to visit other more hopping (although also more touristy) areas farther west, including Playa Las Americas and Los Cristianos. The airport is about 10 minutes away by car.

Rooms at the Vincci Tenerife Golf Hotel are spacious and bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto furnished balconies, some offering expansive ocean views. The ocean and the earth are the two distinct yet subtle decor themes in all units, with blue and lime- green palettes throughout. Bed runners and pillows have either one of these colors, and some "ocean" units have blue accent walls, as well as sea-themed prints on the walls. Flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, air-conditioning, safes, and pillow menus are all standard amenities -- but there is a fee for Wi-Fi. Junior Suites have four-poster beds, and Family Rooms have a second bedroom with a double bed, as well as a sofa bed in the living area. Many bathrooms have cute lime-green sinks and mosaic tiles in the shower, but others are in need of an update. There have also been complaints about uncomfortable mattresses past their prime, and tired-looking furniture in some of the rooms.

As a hotel that caters mostly to couples seeking to spend some quiet, peaceful days in the sun, the Tenerife Golf Hotel offers several options for relaxing and getting pampered. The spa is small but has a hydrotherapy area, a sauna, and treatment cabins. The fitness center is also small  but offers a decent array of cardio and strength-training machines, and lots of natural light. The tennis court is a good alternative to the indoor workout. The most attractive feature here, though, is the pool, located directly above the ocean. It features a couple dozen lounge chairs, a wooden deck, straw umbrellas, and a sundeck one flight of stairs up from the main pool. The buffet restaurant serves a substantive free breakfast spread, but doesn't get the best reviews for the rest of the meals. There is also a pleasant kids’ club with daily activities, a lobby bar, and free on-site parking. Wi-Fi is available for a fee.
