Sunset Bay Club is a three-pearl property with apartment-like suites. It's centrally located with several restaurants, bars, shops, and both Puerto Colon Beach and Fanabe Beach within a 10-minute walk. The 206 apartments have a minimal design and amenities like fully-equipped kitchens, flat-screen TVs, and balconies (some have been renovated). Jamie's Place restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner (not included in room rates). Kid-friendly features include the shallow kids' pool and popular Creature Club with indoor and outdoor play areas. Additional features include an outdoor swimming pool (which can get quite crowded), a small fitness center, and game room. Both Wi-Fi and parking incur an additional fee. Travelers looking for somewhere even closer to the beach should consider Sol Sun Beach Apartments, which also has apartment-style accommodation without the pesky time-share pitches; plus free and fast Wi-Fi.
Scene
Time-share property with casual atmosphere and crowded pool area
Sunset Bay Club is a time-share property with apartment-like rooms and typical beach resort exterior -- white washed walls, palm trees, and hilly paths. The lobby has a slightly dated and disorganized feel. It's made up of tiled flooring, a marble reception desk, purple sofas, messy bookshelf, and small computer station tucked away in the corner -- the kids' check-in area is a fun touch though. Outside, the swimming pool area can get quite packed and there have been a few complaints of not enough sun loungers available when the resort is at full capacity. The on-site restaurant, Jamie's Place, offers a fun and casual dining experience throughout the day. Major downsides include fees for services and amenities (like parking and Wi-Fi) and bothersome time-share pitches from sales staff. Guests have also complained of the property having many steps and hills, making it quite difficult for guests with mobility issues to move around. Overall, the atmosphere is casual with a busy buzz during the high season. This resort attracts vacationers -- mainly English families and couples -- looking for a sunny beach holiday in Tenerife.
Location
Central location in Adeja; a 10-minute walk to two beaches
Sunset Bay Club has a fairly central location on the southern side of the Tenerife island in Adeja. There are numerous restaurants, bars, and shops within close walking distance. It also has fairly quick access to the beach at a 10-minute walk to both Puerto Colon Beach and Fanabe Beach. Playa El Duque is seven minutes by car. Aqualand Costa Adeje is a 15-minute walk away. Siam Park, a water park, takes five minutes to reach by car. Centro Comercial Plaza del Duque, a mall, is a six-minute drive away. There's a taxi stand at the end of the road, or the nearest bus stop is a six-minute walk from the hotel. It's a 20-minute drive to Tenerife South Airport and just about a 60-minute drive to Tenerife Norte Airport.
Rooms
Spacious apartments with fully-equipped kitchens and separate living and dining areas
The 206 apartments are spread across six floors, and only a few units have been renovated. Expect mostly generic interiors including tiled floors, wooden furniture, white walls, and white bed linens. Apartments have either one, two, or three bedrooms with separate living and dining areas as well as fully-equipped kitchens with ovens, burners, refrigerators, microwaves, toasters, electric kettles, and coffeemakers -- some include a dishwasher. Other amenities in all apartments include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, telephones, safes, irons and ironing boards, and (for an additional fee) Wi-Fi. Bathrooms include either walk-in showers or shower/tub combos, along with hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, and house brand toiletries. Balconies are fairly large and overlook the central swimming pool area; most include a sitting area as well as sun loungers and a parasol.
Features
Outdoor swimming pool, restaurant, fitness center, and a kids' club
Features at Sunset Bay Club are fairly limited, with the main highlight being the large outdoor swimming pool. The pool area has a limited number of surrounding sun loungers and parasols and also includes a shallow kids' pool. Jamie's Place serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, light snacks, and cocktails -- though guests should note that these are not included in room rates. There's a small fitness center, though with only a few dated Cybex cardio and weight-training machines. Kids can be kept entertained at Creature Club, which has a small outdoor playground and indoor play area with games and flat-screen TVs. There is also a games room with billiards and table tennis tables. Other features include coin-operated laundry machines and luggage storage. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, though for an additional fee -- there's also an internet kiosk. There are additional fees for on-site parking.
