The three-pearl Regency Torviscas Apartments and Suites is a contemporary, self-catering complex set a 20-minute steep uphill walk from the beach in Costa Adeje. The 95 well-maintained Studios and apartments have full kitchens, furnished terraces, and modern bathrooms, but Studios only have pullout sofa beds. On-site features include an attractive freeform pool with a bar and sea views, an all-day restaurant serving regional and international cuisine, small spa, and entertainment for kids and adults. The hotel also provides free shuttles to the beach, Playa de las Americas, and Los Cristianos. Note that some guests have complained of limited pool loungers and the lack of in-room air-conditioning. Travelers looking to stay closer to the action might want to try the Sol Sun Beach Apartments, which is along the boardwalk in Costa Adeje.
Scene
Pleasant, cheerful apartment-style hotel in quiet setting outside city center
The Regency Torviscas Apartments and Suites offers modern self-catering facilities at an affordable price. A mix of couples and families with kids come here for the spacious rooms, resort amenities, and quiet setting. Although guests are removed from the beach and city center, downhill walks are easy (many choose to take the free shuttles back up the steep hill) and the property's atmosphere is laid-back. The design is a mix of traditional and contemporary, and colorful accents throughout give the Regency Torviscas a cheerful vibe. Expect lots of modern wicker furniture, multi-colored artwork and throw pillows, and traditional architecture that includes stucco buildings with red-tiled roofs and archways. Travelers spend most of their time outside the property, though the pool receives lots fo attention in the summer months, though be aware that early-morning sunbed reserving can be a nuisance.
Location
20-minute walk down a steep hill from the nearest beach
The Regency Torviscas Apartments and Suites is removed from the Costa Adeje center, set up a steep hill in a quiet area. It's a 20-minute downhill walk (six-minute drive) to Playa de Torviscas, but the steep walk back may be difficult for some -- free shuttles and cheap taxis are available. Free shuttles are also provided to the popular areas of Los Cristianos and Playa de la Americas. A supermarket is a two-minute walk from the hotel, and a small shopping mall is five minutes away. Several restaurants and bars are within a 10-minute walk. Expect transfers to Tenerife Sur Airport to take around 15 minutes by car, while transfers to Tenerife Norte will take just shy of an hour.
Rooms
Mostly modern apartments with well-equipped kitchens and balconies
The 95 rooms are split between Studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments, all of which are outfitted in a cheerful and mostly contemporary design. All have wood floors, simple white-wood living room furniture, and L-shaped pullout sofa beds topped with multi-colored throw pillows. Unfortunately, those pullout sofas are the only bed options in Studios. Apartments, meanwhile, have separate bedrooms with magenta or blue accent walls and bed runners, traditional wrought-iron bed frames and wooden desks. Modern kitchens are well-equipped with full-size fridges, four-burners, ovens, kettles, and microwaves, plus all the usual cookware. Each breakfast bar has between two and four stools. Up-to-date bathrooms have mosaic-tiled showers in neutral shades, as well as bidets and hairdryers. Furnished terraces are spacious across the board. All units have flat-screen TVs, stereos, wardrobes, and free Wi-Fi, but they lack air-conditioning.
Features
Outdoor pool with a bar, a la carte restaurant, and small spa
The focal point of the Regency Torviscas is its well-sized freeform outdoor pool that's set in a stone terrace and faces the sea. A straw-roofed bar that serves drinks and light snacks is set on the terrace, as are dining sets and loungers -- though these are reportedly reserved with towels early in the morning. Children are catered to with a small playground off the pool and a kids’ club that runs daily throughout high season, and evening entertainment is provided for all ages. Although the rooms are self-catering, a restaurant on-site offers a continental breakfast buffet and a la carte regional and international options for lunch and dinner. A weekly barbecue buffet is available, but all food is reportedly average. The hotel has a small gym with old equipment, and there's a spa with a hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna, and treatment rooms for massages and wellness therapies. Wi-Fi and on-site park are free.
